I can emphasize the creamy, slightly oily body here. Feels really nice on the palate. Unfortunately, the resonating aromas are not a treat for the palate and are partly pungent, partly artificial. The alcohol is so boisterous that I would have guessed well over 55% vol. in blind tasting.
    • Nose
      82 82
The alcohol brings a surprising amount of sharpness to the nose. Very concise citrus notes determine the aroma, some of which drift into the artificial and remind me of citrus-scented washing-up liquid. In addition, there are also slightly sour, pungent notes that you would encounter on a walk along a historic tannery, to put it as positively as possible. In addition, there are also slightly grassy notes, mint, lemon candy, a hint of vanilla.
    • Taste
      84 84
The alcohol also pushes properly when you start. The body has a very nice creaminess. Lemons, malt, mint, apple chewing gum, lemon dishwashing liquid, caramel, cane sugar, linoleum, apricot juice, Swedish herbs.
    • Finish
      83 83
Mid-length finish. At the beginning of the finish, oily drops remain in the mouth, alongside a good portion of spiciness. Artificial-looking, slightly dry citrus aromas, green apple, caramel, some oak remain.

OK, that was unexpected. The soap is still there. Makes the malt kind of interesting though. Even if it doesn't fit. It's not completely annoying. Certainly a bit of a hindrance, but worth remembering
    • Nose
Sweet honey nose with lots of vanilla and slightly dusty oak like 20+ Ex Bourbon. Especially in older ones. Really full and beautifully ripe.
    • Taste
In the mouth for 50% a good start. Fine oak and then a soapy perfumed note strikes. That's no '80s Bowmore. How does the soap get in there?
    • Finish
The perfumed soapy note pulls into the finish here. Also slightly tart and only towards the end you can guess the beautiful malt behind it.

Glenkinchie 1987-2012, 24 years, 49.6% alc. Bottler Cadenhead (Authentic Collection). Expansion: Bourbon Hogshead

Nose: First of all a lot of grass, vegetable with moist soil. I'm thinking of a spring meadow after a short rain shower. Next to that I find Mirabelle plums, grapefruit and limes, some vanilla pudding and stale mint tea. With time, rhubarb develops, the mint grows stronger next to it.

Palate: Sweet, fresh and clean. Malt, malt sugar, various citrus fruits and red currants. In addition, perfumed herbal aromas, a little unripe apricot and again a wide variety of grasses. Very delicate vanilla in the background, the herbal aromas remain in the foreground.

Finish: Medium to long, still vegetal and herbal with a penchant for citrus fruits, some menthol.

Conclusion: blindly I wouldn't have guessed this Glenkinchie even half its age, a quite fun and fun and exciting representative of the distillery. 84/100 points (2022)

This one is so very rewarding if you give it time to open up. And boy it needs time.

But then you receive an old fashion note you often get from "bottle aging" (mostly from 1980's botllings or older).

Good for Glenkinchie. Maybe a bit short.
    • Nose
Incredibly fruity with grapefruit, ginger and vanilla. Lovely nose.
    • Taste
Citrussy, sugary and a little metallic. Water flattens it.
    • Finish
      A bit harsh and metallic
