Very dark liquid, as we know, this is colored... why Bowmore? Honestly this is useless with this market. Cooked figs, burnt berries, blueberry is the word, smooth oloroso spices, delicate alcohol presence, this is not young. Very rich but also fresh, i think ive heard this is a mix of different aged whiskies. That would make sense. Wonderful notes of rasberry chocolate at the end.
    • Taste
      87 87
First word is Oloroso, right away the dried spices of the oloroso kicks in, you can tell by the taste, its much younger than on the nose. Orange, dark chocolate, rasberries, espresso bitterness. I'll lower the note here since if you dont like dryness, this one might not please you.
    • Finish
      87 87
Progressive spices and then the mixture of bitterness, fruit and richness comes in. I prefer when its all coming in together but hey... its still pretty wonderful. This is a very interesting edition, it brings different horizons in the loot and if you can get a bottle of this at a decent price, its hard to equal by the same distillery.

    NAS Bowmore, but excellent!
Super sympathy from floral Bowmore smoke, Oloroso sherry influence and well-integrated alcohol at barrel strength. Minimal violet note, which complements the sherry and smoke perfectly.

  9. Ostap scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Deep, sequential, perfect whisky. With a pleasant palette of flavors and flavors. A very successful game of sherry barrels creates a sizable herring cut, not a sherry monster.
    • Nose
Pectusine, apples, ash, charcoal, sherry, iodine, salted, apple-pear jam, berries, needles, juniper, lemon, black chocolate, raisins, marmalade, smoked peat, marzipan, fatty dried fish, dried apricots, white pepper , passion fruit berries. At first, a rather delicate aroma, over time, is more intense than sherry nuances.
    • Taste
Very delicious, butter, smoke, ash, a lot of raisins, chocolate, pepper, dark fruits, sherry, salted meat.
    • Finish
Intensively growing, smoky, ash, oily, oak, salty, pepper, fish on a grill, medium duration.

Incredibly deep, ingenious Bowmore retains his character despite all the sherry
    • Nose
Wow, overripe figs and dates, raisins, dark toffee, somewhere Bowmore smoke and salt, tobacco, mocha, dark chocolate, yummy ...
    • Taste
Powerful, dark caramel, with chocolate, raisins, mocha and dates, very soft peat on the back, some baking aromas in between, dark berries, bitter choco
    • Finish
Long with maritime peat, warm, raisins, sweet and salty at the same time

A rich, fruity old-school Bowmore. Lovely thick sweetness and fruitiness
are perfectly balanced with coastal and herbal notes, superbly coated
with wood smoke. Strong, intense and overwelming. A multi-layered, fine
and full-bodied character. Another excellent example of the perfect
    harmony of Bowmore with sherry.

    https://www.facebook.com/Whisky-Connaisseur-550443305109776/
    • Nose
Deep and rich. Sherry flavours nicely intermingle with plums, dried
cherries, orange marmalade, sweet prunes, and liquorice. Briny notes are
present with hints of tar and rubber, covered by subtle wood smoke.
Sweet aromas of toffee, malted barley and dark chocolate emerge, lovely
lingering with hints of eucalyptus and a whiff of florals in the back.
    • Taste
Deliciously sweet start on the palate with sherry, dates, prunes and
raisins. This is complemented by an intense warming spiciness of oak,
cinnamon and nutmeg. Wood smoke and tar-like flavours arrive, perfectly
balanced with lovely herbal and medicinal notes, kind of cough syrup.
Sweet and fruity again with luscious oranges, dark berries, liquorice
and a briny edge with a whiff of ozone towards the finish. Lovely
      savoury!
    • Finish
The finish is very long, sweet with dried dark fruit, liquorice, and
herbal cough syrup. Slightly drying, with some astringency, leading to a
smoky and subtle salty end. Perfect!

      WITH WATER: There's more
yellow fruits coming through with a splash of water. Citrus and toffee
nicely mingle with sherry and lovely wood smoke on the nose. Water
significantly increases the sweetness on the palate with toffee and
fruits, supported by prickling spiced oak on the tongue. The finish is
very long, sweet and creamy with tender wood smoke on the tail.

A very successful Bowmore, who does not crush you with his sherry smoke, but rather brings a decent dose of distinction.
    • Nose
The nose is very fruity and surprisingly low in smoke. Red ripe berries dominate, but also figs and raisins can be found. After a while salty notes appear behind the fruits and a little smoke in the distance.
    • Taste
On the tongue is then very quickly a beautiful combination of sherry and peat smoke, as it is typical for Bowmore. The entrance is strong and blazes like a high piled wood fire. Dark chocolate, toffee and malty sweetness add depth to the fruit note.
    • Finish
The finish is long and warm with sweet smoke, with the sweetness of the Oloroso barrel (whose oak taste delicately plays around the tongue) clearly dominating and the smoke is adorned with adornment.

a "character whisky" - great flavors, much of it, but without being intrusive, overflowing, but unobtrusive, elegant, timelessly beautiful, noble even
(but when I think that I got the 1989 port for the price a few years ago, I could cry)
    • Nose
mmmmh, dark, noble, burned sugar, tobacco, aromatic leather, marzipan in dark chocolate, light tart smoke, a salty breeze ...
    • Taste
and again "noble" - dark chocolate with salt, dark grapes, black pepper, a slightly sparkling grapefruit bitterness, ripe plums, camomile, subtle smoke
    • Finish
long, smoky, bittersweet, pepper, salt, tobacco

  23. Murxus scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

The most wonderful Bowmore violet I've ever had in my glass. And so beautifully integrated into the slightly smoky sherry-background, nothing put-perfumed.
If the price would not be the ideal successor for my 18er ;-)

  24. ragingbull scored this whisky 88 points Member Senior

Despite massive sherry influence one smells immediately - yes that's Bowmore. This is followed by figs, oranges, light leather and tobacco, dark red fruits, black tea, barely any smoke for a little salt, a slight alcoholic stinging in the nose. In the finish, the smoke comes out better as well as a spicy, slightly bitter oak. I mean to taste some violet oil. Not bad, though. He's got a couple of years under his belt. That's what a Sherry Bowmore must taste like.

Nose: Sweet smoked dry fruit. Grapes. Sunflower seeds. Oily. A wee bit of tar, ash and rubber. A tangy meatiness. Stirfry sauce. Citrus. Tobacco and dried cherries. Eucalyptus. Some chocolate and salt taffee. Florals emerge late and almost ghost-like.

Palate: Spiced chocolate sauce and lapsang souchong tea. Rum-soaked fruitcake. Leaves quite a taste of smoke and grape skins in the mouth. Or maybe plum skins. Medicinal in a fruity cough syrup kinda way. This is heavy sherry and moderate smoke. Neat.

Thoughts: May not be to everyone’s liking, but it works a treat for me.

Really top notch Bowmore in my opinion.
    • Nose
Seville oranges and smokey bacon crisps with a little diesel oil. Hints of salty gravy. With water, dates and raisins peak through. Soft almonds. Excellent nose.
    • Taste
Massively sherried. The peat is initially lost in rich meaty notes, but it comes storming back with salt crystals and pepper. Water unleashes a barrage of fruit.
    • Finish
Relentless and fabulous. Almost no sweetness but it peeks through occasionally. Long and salty. Much longer and fruitier with water.

    http://www.weinkenner.de/2013/bowmore-springtide-for-travel-retail-und-maltmens-selction-aus-der-craftsmens-collection-29260/ Color: copper amber
Nose: leather, earth, peat and tobacco flavors and malt, a little orange juice and honey; Notes of hay and traces of disinfectant.
Taste: Steel-metallic, disinfectant, spicy, oranges, salt and wood, becoming better with toffee flavors. The wood now pushes harder in the foreground, and peat and smoke are added. In the transition to the finish discreet soap notes.
Finish: Medium length, peaty wood, bog, leather and wet foliage as well as more smoke and peat.
Note: Quite one-dimensional finish on boggy-peaty base!
    87 points (nose: 87 / taste: 87 / finish: 86)

    Tasted blind.

Nose: fine peat with a nice fruity sherry (bananas and strawberries ...?!). Discreet maritime notes, light smoke. The sherry is meaty, but also on nuts, hazelnuts. A little bit of hydrocarbons.
Palate: attack more peaty than the nose, the sherry comes next. Notes of grilled meat, grapes, citrus fruits. Black mushrooms. I was expecting something more violent, here the alcohol is perfectly integrated.
Final: long, on smoke, spices, a nice woody.

A little too discreet in the sense that the aromas in the mouth are too melted, not well defined. It's still very pretty.

Value for money / catastrophic age.

  38. tomy63 scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

A slightly peaty Bowmore, slightly marked by sherry, with lots of orange. Well done, but poor q / p ratio.
    • Nose
a little closed, a little alcohol at first, not very expressive even after a few minutes of opening. Almost no peat on the nose, rather discreet iodine notes, sherry notes, rather citrus, lots of oranges, it does not look like a 1st fill.
    • Taste
powerful, much more marine than the nose but still little peat. A lot of orange, a little lemon, dried fruits and spices, but we do not really have the chocolate side of sherry.
    • Finish
      long, powerful, salt, orange, spices

  39. Feis_ile did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

The color is a coppery amber and the nose has plenty of richness on offer immediately. A combination of aromas combine to give a promising start - there is prominent toffee and fudge along with some toasted almond, milk chocolate and a hint of spiced orange. These aromas are complemented with some feisty, spicy and slightly savory peat smoke.
On the palate, the savory peat smoke hits first and as this fades, other elements mix, compliment and begin to take over. Again, there are plenty of toffee, fudge and caramel-like notes along with the chocolate and roasted almonds in advance. These are accompanied by a hint of ground coffee and an upper note of palma violet candies (a classic indicator of older Bowmores). The finish begins with the sweeter explanation but quickly becomes bittersweet, savory and a bit dry. The smoke from peat is never far away and takes an age to fade
