Bold sherry, intense flavors and great taste. Really does need air and water to open up. Don't rush it, then it's brilliant whisky. Like it much more than cask 5095 of the same vintage.
    • Nose
heavy sherry, gingerbread, chocolate, rum and a bit of varnish. Water adds meaty notes and becomes sweeter then
    • Taste
dry sherry, strong grape, bold dark chocolate and also very fruity (all the red ones...). With water it's much sweeter, loads of honey and milk chocolate now, but also keep it's fruits.
    • Finish
pretty long, still fruity and fresh, mellow and mildly spiced. No bad wood influence at all.

Very dark body, old rum-like nuances, bitter tastes coming from behind, condensed feel, softness, sweetness

Nose: sweet notes of Sherry, notes of dark chocolate,
Taste: Noticeable light spice, notes of wine and a lot of sherry. The aroma is quite strong. Nice arranged. Okay, I like it!
Rating: 90 | 100 A whisky with a good warming finish, a bit spicy at the end. The whole thing is very cool!

    • Nose
The nose is such lovely sweet sherry, deep malt and huge red fruit nose. Hints of cooked strawberry compote and sweet Christmas cake. Loads of malt comes through with a dash of water, richness still prevails.
    • Taste
The palate is full, fat, monstrous Glenfarclas. If you've never had a family cask... find one. It's so much sherry but perfectly balanced with delicate malt and oak spice.
    • Finish
The finish in this is sweet, dry and long. Red fruits and hints of malty camphor mingle with cherry cheese cake creaminess. Long drawn out oak spice and wood essences.

First price was 178.-€, now over 200.-GBP (>270.-€).... crazy.

But it is a real great dram. :-D

  8. Drochaid scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

Color: Dark Oak Aroma: A strong nose. Flashy Oloroso sherry notes on the rim of the glass, bitter cocoa beans, chocolate macaroons. Taste: Great aroma, sweet iced tea, making room for the spice of cinnamon and almond powder, and then wave after wave for fantastic sherry and port notes. Finish: Heavy finish. Not a very long finish, but full of all the flavors. Everything you want in a big punch.

Very interesting whisky I can reccomend anyone to try. Not a good choice for the beginner. Balance is not so great.
    • Nose
Prunes, lacquer, liquorice, strong single cask bourbon, some cristmas cake.
    • Taste
      Single cask bourbon, sweet sherry.
    • Finish
Rather short, sweet, light notes of bourbo, some pepper.
