Whisky Reviews for Highland Park 1998 WIB
3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.50 points
Peat smoke, fruity (strawberries, cranberries), chocolate, nutty
Peat smoke, zilty, pepper, heather, honey
Medium long, smoky, spicy
- Both HPs are clearly related. The cask numbers fuel the assumption that
they matured close to each other, which would explain their similarity a bit.
Whatever the case, they are both great HPs.
The nose is as good as identical to that one of the Smoking Buffalo,
with hints of red fruit and a great smokiness, however subtle. It is just a tad
sweeter and the white chocolate turns into Galak. Remember that one? With the
roasted rice? Wonderful.
On the palate, too, it is clearly a sibling of the Smoking Buffalo, but
this one does have a Sharp edge and a wonderful salty touch to it.
The finish is medium long, nicely smoky, spicy and warming.
