    "Single Malt Scotch Whisky"

Screwcap. 43%. 75 cl. Part of a gift set including flask and jigger.

I gotta say, this is a beautiful whisky. Fautless, really, and totally quaffable. The more I drink this, the more I appreciate it. Extremely balanced, full of flavors, great warm mouthfeel, and just beautiful from start to finish. There is no way this is just 12 years old, and I know it isn't. Probably better than the current 25yo but don't tell anyone about it :)

Loving this dram. Honey and extremely elegant (ripe dark combining a little tropical) fruity when newly opened. Then it turns to be the well-known honey, mineral, and a little smoky old highland park. Always having a heavy, oily body, this whisky is a constant enjoyment for me.

    Yes!

This is one of the very best standards I enjoyed so far!

It is different from other versions of 12yo dumpy (i.e. 'The Single Malt Scotch ...' - version) without changes in quality!

And that is what is important!

Tasting with Armin Fuchs again and again, because it is such a great standard !
    • Nose
Very old casks with some scouring powder and earthy (almost in the direction of mushrooms) notes.

Many jams, orange juice and peel, wonderful honey, old leather with hints of peat ...

      Just round!

Coffee, hints of pralines and a thick sweetness spiced with nice herbs and bedded in the finest wood.

      Very deep and dark impression.
    • Taste
Extremely balanced and always drinkable (even after an undiluted whisky over 60% abv) ...

Old character, very mature, again many jams and wonderful old citrus aromas.

The earthy notes come through - they are highly complex and dark.

Hints of cognac, brandy beans, espresso powder, hints of dark chocolate, honey, hints of heather and a most pleasant leathery maltiness.
    • Finish
Long finish with scouring powder and old casks in the beginning, followed by honey, sweet malt, leather, brandy beans, hints of cognac and then appear the jams:

So many! For example: Rose hip, strawberry, cherry, wild berries and currant ...

In the end impressions of a mushroom ragout ...

More wild and maritime as it's brother 'The Single Malt Scotch Whisky'! More peat, more spices, more dark things.

It's very nice to have this special character of these old Dumpies, too! A really great HP 12 !!
    • Nose
Peat, honey and bees wax, bullion cube, seashells on the beach, leather and coffee beans, spiced jams, toffee creme, melted butter; there is also sweetness, but not so powerful … - more balanced with the spicy side ...
    • Taste
Honey, cherries, oranges, raisins, heather, caramel on leather, Cognac (!), citrus peal, lemon, Sherry cask, cocoa powder, peated wood, some smoke, lemon peal, fruit brandies, Rumtopf, Demerara, some banana peal
    • Finish
Sweetness from dark bakery, Brandy Beans, Cognac, spices, honey, heather, mild Rumtopf, Demerara, wood, pepper, some lemon, maybe also Kirsch ...

Slightly darker than the other version ('The Single Malt Scotch ...').

Also more impressions from active Sherry casks and more earth.

Overall more complexity - but neither 'better' nor 'worse'. Just a different Whisky.

It's great to see these differences from batch to batch without having impact on the high quality!

HP 12 yp dumpy stands out!
