  1. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Very tasty for a fair € 37, which is for smoke lovers who like it strong, but not medically. Fat, sweet, strong-young, but not metallic, without frippery.
    • Nose
lots of sweetness (shortbread, malt, some nougat), cereals, "dirty" smoke, some suckling pig, car repair shop, a splash of lemon / salt
    • Taste
a lot of milk chocolate and nougat, smoked ham with a little pepper, and there is still something fruity ... orange marmalade with shells in it, but only discreetly on the edge
    • Finish
long, smoked bacon remains on the tongue, with milk chocolate, and finally pepper and coffee

It was nice and smoky and I had bought the Scotland as a daily dram. Was amazed how good it was.

Heavy smoke on the nose followed by sweetness but not very persistent

  5. keizerjos scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Extremely pleasant, beautifully smoky, mildly acidic, subdued Islay whisky that I would have liked a box instead of a bottle of. Clear, fruity, always present peat but never emphatically - the smoke and the campfire just allow all other aromas, the fire does not dominate. Softly sweet aromas of grilled pineapple, nuts, cherries (but not as emphatically as with the Laphroiags and the Caol Ilas). More than excellent whisky, nice at 43% - you would give it more, so much depth. 87 - yes, 88 points.
A few months later, at the end of 2019, again: heppiedepeppie cheerful cheerful uncomplicated enthusiastic jumpy cheerful who is more than worth his money.

    • Nose
Immediately a lot of smoke. First dirty, then getting heartier. A lot of power in the nose. The sweetie comes through slowly. But then clearly with vanilla and sugar glaze and even some fruit.
    • Taste
Pleasant on the tongue. Clear bright sweetness. Then the smoke over the palate.
    • Finish
Getting drier quickly. Something light oak. Still cute.

In the aroma quite appealing but in the nose and the finish he stays a little bit behind. Points but because of the age and the good value for money. All in all, a good malt with a wild smoky note - 02.06.2017
    • Nose
Pleasant, softer Islay smoke, light bacon flavor mixed with solvent, even after prolonged crawl, unfortunately, comes through very little sweetness, perhaps quite a bit away malt and peach, dragon fruit, lemon, grassy, dry straw
    • Taste
Cooling, cold smoke, aromatic-sweet smoky note, bacon, slightly tingling but not spicy, watery texture, ashtray, getting drier, wooden
    • Finish
      Short

    • Nose
ahhh the first smoker. Bacon, lime, almond
    • Taste
mild smoke, vanilla, salty, farmhouse bread
    • Finish

I am surprised! This dram is really good value for the money and every one who likes smoky malts should give this one a try.
    • Nose
Intense, aromatic smoke (reminds me of the butcher next to me, firing his smoker). Sweetness and malt. Hints of salt and iodine and a touch of lemon.
    • Taste
Peaty with a lot of aromatic smoke, just like a slice of smoked bacon. Some white pepper kicking in.
    • Finish
Long with more smoked bacon. Milk chocolate and a hint of coffee.

Peat, peat, peat and again peat with a pleasant sharpness. More does not produce this sample. Nevertheless, I like this Islay whisky very well.
    • Nose
Blind tasting: Even when pouring the nose exudes intense peat aroma. Voluminous, slightly sweet peat mixes with a subtle smoky note. A little more malt, otherwise only fine peat.
    • Taste
At the first sip, the full peat aroma of the nose is released. Subtle wooden woody aromas and peppery pungency penetrate through the peat. A load of salt tilts over the pungency and the peat, light nut flavors arise at the end of the taste.
    • Finish
The finish begins, as might be expected with peppery pungency and voluminous peat. Chilli sharpness heats up the palate, briefly flashing fruity wood note. After a medium-length peat explosion, the finish sounds amazingly fast.

blind tasting Too bad that the taste can not compete with the nose. Still a good whisky.
    • Nose
subtle aromatic smoke, citrus, light sweetness, nut and spoon bisque. Dirty in the background.
    • Taste
Smoke, slightly sweet and peppery, fruity and slightly dry. Oh, here's the filthy again.
    • Finish
      long and dry.

BLIND TASTING Tip: Caol Ila or Benriach, but could also be a mature Ledaig. The finish disappoints something

    - 46%
    - 12 to 16 years
    - Barrel or Hogshead
    • Nose
Smoke, hay harvest in late summer, cereals, cream toffee, a touch of tar and workbench, while being consistently sweet, gets a little musty, locker room in the gym, sweet cream
    • Taste
relatively soft and pleasant, the smoke is in the foreground
    • Finish
somehow quite short, smoky and dry-fruity

As a connoisseur remarked, the interesting thing about bunnahabhains that have been filled up by others is that they do not have the salty character typical of distilleries.

    Bunnahabhain peat
on the nose with traces of sweet vanilla and caramel. When sipping, this one is
light and does not have a lot going on although it is still pleasant to sip.
Hints of chocolate and caramel on the pallet. The finish is also light but not
    unpleasant.

I enjoy the lightly peated flavor but would like some other characteristics
to be paired with it. Overall, I think this is a successful whisky, at least for
    an 8 year old.
