Sharing some very good traits of the 1988 wy selected by aqua vitae, I'd say it lacks a little bit of complexity and fresh tropical fruity notes comparing to that, but some friends of mine think this bottle has a better style on the elegance of the perfume notes.

Two guys who also wrote notes and spoke highly of this 1989, please try the 1988 wy "outlined in chalks" if you could get your hands on that. You won't feel regret, I'm deadly sure.

I have to say, this bottling has totally surprised me. For me no typical (maritime) Bowmore, but saulecker! The fruitiness and the fine peat taste harmonize great.
    • Nose
Immediately after uncorking a violet fragrance is in the air. The typical maritime and salty smell of a Bowmore is missing in this bottling completely, but there is a hint of peat and fruit in the air.
    • Taste
In the mouth then comes a salty and pleasant peppery note. Slightly tingling and wooden on the palate and on the tongue. Again peat and sweet fruit.
    • Finish
A complex and long finish completes this delicious Bowmore. Fine but somehow powerful, this peaty and sweet finish remains in memory.

  3. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Nose: sweet, hints of aged peat, marzipan, many tropical fruits, oak. Very round and very pleasant.
Mouth: strong, clear peat, salt, but very sweet, vanilla and fruits.
Finish: warm, lots of fruit, lots of vanilla (a nice bourbon cask), a good dose of Bowmoor-typical peat, not too much and a bit dusty. Then some oak.

Conclusion: a great old Bowmore, many tropical fruits, very balanced and a nice peat note. I like it very much!
