The smell is single, bland and not much flavor, except for the obvious citrus flavor, a small amount of honey, other things are lackluster, and the finish is fleeting. In short, it is light and watery.

scbp-5110, the taste is too weak, and it is tasteless.

Green pepper oil, the jerky feeling is ready to come out, the characteristics of insufficient aging are very obvious. Chili, sea salt, sweet apricot, cream, sweet and cooked fat, lime juice, vodka, ginger beer, and some overripe bottle of aging tropical fruit. 80
    • Taste
      70 70
Oily, light taste. Oxidized apple juice, light lemon peel, to orange peel, with mint, pepper and green tannins for the final taste. It has a strong sense of fat and poor flavor complexity. p65b75

The harvest is mainly citrus peel, which is neat and tidy. 75

    Littlemill 8 years
Nose: leather at first —> fruits (mainly mango) and clean floral notes —> tropical fruits

    Palate: mango, mineral, floral

    Finish: mineral

Didn't start off with any expectations, but this dram surprised me with the clean execution of the tropical fruits it has to offer. Though the dram is on the weak side, and these profiles are not particularly intense, it is very enjoyable nonetheless

  12. PEATYBOI scored this whisky 83 points Expert Junior

On the nose, fresh mangoes and papaya. With time, grassy and hay notes develop with tiny bit of citrus sweetness. Also slight hints of pineapple, wood, and vanilla in the background. The sweet notes become more artificial with time.

On the palate, tropical fruits again and basically matches what is presented on the nose.

The finish is medium and dry. Notes of minerals can also be experienced.

This is by no means a special Littlemill but it does give you a glimpse of what lowland whisky was all about.

it's a littlemill but not a great one if you have this bottle keep it closed keep it for the old days because opening it is a waste ,sell the bottle and buy a much better littlemill with that money
    • Nose
the first nose is a mix of gras and white fruit after a while some more dept but still gras now there is also some mint leafs ,unripe granny smith appel , mandarin, pineappel , wood and vanilla in the back ground there is that typical littlemill dirtiness
    • Taste
white fruit , unripe apple , grassy , oak , vanilla
      very faint taste
    • Finish
lots of unripe fruit on the finish pear, apple , oak and vanilla , a hint of dirtiness but most of all very young

This Littlemill was part of our vintage lineup. Young and grassy. Especially the first nose and taste were not that great. After some more minutes in the glass, the quality improved to "just average". My score has been based on this. This whisky could not compete with the "heavy guns" put on the table that amazing afternoon.

Loch Lomond is for sure doing better with their current releases compared to this weak Littlemill.

Not sure why this whisky would do 200 Euro's nowadays. Then you pay for the fact that the whisky is very rare to get. Not for the quality!

    Part of a vintage tasting.
Undermatured, young lowland whisky. Very light and green, spirity body. Grassy, grainy, hay, and fresh hints with some citrus fruits but far from ready to bottle. But it is fun to taste an original OB Littlemill for once. And hey..when it is on the table staring at you....It actually reminds me (as I have often with Littlemill) of what they are producing , or can produce, with Loch Lomond. They also tend to have this light and green and citrus-fruity character. Especially when you try the Loch Lomond 17yo Organic you will notice the similarities.

Good base malt with a great aftertaste!

The bottle was opened in 2019, IMHO there is a real effect of holding in the bottle, if you look at the low marks of our dear comrades!)

[May, 2015]  I just had a (physical) chat with the staff of LLG during a warehouse tour today and they confirmed their Littlemill stock will last at least for another 7 to 10 years.  And I spotted quite a significant number of casks by myself - so collectors beware and save your money for the releases to come...

  24. hs305 scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

[December, 2021] I found this dram in this year's advents calendar...

...and this is just another measure of these old under-whelming standard Littlemill bottlings which ruined the image of this distillery for decades - until the collectors and investors came, hence this is stuff for such people only.

[March, 2014]  I had this dram during a "Lowlands" rarities tasting at Bonn.

In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 80. My notes state a light and grassy profile with some astringent moments on the palate.  Nothing remarkable about it and I will certainly never buy and open a bottle to drink it...
    • Nose
      80 80
The colour is old gold and the nose offers a profile to forget with nothing more than sweet barley sugars and bitter grasses. Even if I sniff into the glass for hours I am not able to identify any further aromas, this nose is very simple and absolutely uninteresting.
    • Taste
      77 77
The taste is sugary sweet, sugary sweet and then it gets suddenly bitter from grassy-waxy flavours. But not that the two flavours combine (which were fine), it is just that it is first sweet and after that it gets bitter without the sweetness before. Very strange and not enjoyable, to be honest. Sorry folks, but I have to use the spittoon (why should I spent precious liver cells for such a drink?).
    • Finish
      79 79
The dram arrives warming but without any identifiable coating effect on my palate and the finish is accordingly short as a lightning with a minor bitter-drying ending (no, not from tannins - this is a rather plastic-alike impression which I do not like at all). Water turns the taste even sweeter but not to the better.

  25. St. Pauli scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Not the most complex one, and very grassy. You have to like this, but it's one of the best examples of a "green" whisky that I've come across.
    • Nose
The grassier (yet not uncommon) side of Littlemill. Plain cut grass and hay dominate. Somehow, it reminds me of pot still whisky, but this one is even dustier. I doubt if this was intentionally the case. Apart from that, the comparison with (good) pot still doesn't go far. This Littlemill is rather one dimensional. There is not really anything else to be detected. Maybe some vanilla and some pineapple, that's it.
    • Taste
Quite thin, but more interesting than on the nose. It gets a little fruitier, with peach and pineapple, and creamy vanilla. Yet, the grassy and dusty notes still prevail. Towards the end, pepper kicks in.
    • Finish
The finish is medium long, only slightly bitter, and a bit acidic (though certainly within boundaries). There is grass, mint, lemon, pineapple and pepper.

  26. ElBasstardo scored this whisky 78 points Member Senior

It is a typical Littlemill nose. Love it. Lots of dry grass just the way we like our Littlemill. Taste is fine but not very full. Too bad after that beautiful nose. The finish is even worse. To short. 40% is really to low. If you want to try a payable Littlemill it is ok but you'd rather spend a little more 'cause there are beauties out there!!

Wow, that was a disappointment even at lower expectations;)
    • Nose
Grass, just grass. Hay, some coniferous forest, some dust ... that's going to be bad. Some heather vllt. in the background
    • Taste
Hay, some hops & malt, hints of vanilla, hints of toffee and a certain sweetness, I had Indians for 19 € which tasted more interesting, some juniper and dusty slats
    • Finish
Carbonated hay and oak, short to medium long, well

No excitement, easy drinking. Go in the direction of the old 12er, but I had a little more of everything.
    • Nose
Fresh, sweet, some honey, citrus, some yoghurt and a slightly musty side aroma
    • Taste
very light, sweet, caramel and with time a few bitter aromas.
    • Finish
bitter-sweet, tingling and a bit herbaceous, radish, bittering towards the end.

  30. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Not exactly what one expects from a Lowlander, who has rested comfortably in the bottle for 20 years. This is already very bitter green stuff. Definitely an interesting experience, but enjoyment is different, a little over the top. In fact, it reminds of a recently tasted Inchmurrin - https://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/64846/inchmurrin-1996-sv - which is not that extreme.
    • Nose
green, like the bottle, already when opening and pouring, freshly cut grass, flower cut, bitter, pine needles, tree of life, juniper ... in the background vanilla and caramel, creamy
    • Taste
as the nose promises - caramel with lots of herbal bitter notes, as if chewing on pine needles and grass, reminiscent of Jever (or hops), lime ... and pepper, allspice
    • Finish
      medium, Kamillan, herb bitter

The nose is the best part of this Littlemill. It doesn't taste young, but it also isn't quite a finished malt. Not much wrong with it, but also no single aspect that makes you jump out of your seat.
    • Nose
Ah yes, unmistakably a Littlemill, but definitely not a fruity one. Some saw dust, dried grass, hay. Also floral. And some coconut shavings, cumin and pine sap. An overall dusty/musty quality puts somewhat of a damper on a good nose.
    • Taste
Black pepper, herbs, wildflowers and wood. Some off-notes that are very hard to place as well as a little bit of fruit, but not much.
    • Finish
Pineapple and an unpleasant sourness. Short as well.

It's Littlemill, what do you expect?
    • Nose
Sweet.  Toasted marshmallows.  Fresh cut hay.  Cantaloupe. Perhaps a slight, slight bit smoky.
    • Taste
Sweet malt.  More marshmallow.  Field grasses and wildflowers.
    • Finish
Short.  Short.  Short.  Grainy, but soft.
