Whisky Reviews for Craigellachie 2002 CWC

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

An excellent young talk, about nine years, like a curious first nose, sending us to the original source; in general, according to the sensations, the age is two times more, the well-packed non-children's fortress - about any spiritness, even thought does not arise - only the power and depth ... and the desire to repeat. Also from the pros - the lack of all-conquering syrup sweetness, the mole is far from dry, but the sweetness is balanced by an oak and does not oppress other components.
    • Nose
... this is him, this is he - a real moonshine ..., savory, deep, cereal, after a while, breathing out, fervent lonely infantilism gives way to RH - dried fruits, dried apricots, raisin variety, mushroom notes, pipe tobacco, fudge .. ., uh, let go ...
    • Taste
Powerful, deep, oak, red pepper, creamy tones, toffee, boiled condensed milk, burnt caramel, ginger.
    • Finish
Oak-caramel, creamy in the frame of dried fruits, dried apricots, raisins, a slice of lemon in sweet tea.

  2. Sonett scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Fruity with summer flowers. some vanilla fudge and dark fruits like raisins and dates
    • Taste
Enters warm and sweet, then a spicy wooden touch that dries a bit Dark chocolate is also there
    • Finish
Medium long going from dry oak with bitter almonds to a surprisingly sweet finish

Not an easy malt, because the PX is so dominant that
you can hardly recognize the distillery character. Having said that, this is
just a damn fine dram! Around 50 EUR. Thanks, Imanuel.
    • Nose
The PX dominates the rather delicate and florale
Craigellachie character clearly. Candied syrup and something meaty easily
overpower the caramelized apples, that struggle to surface. After breathing,
that improves, though. A marmalade of red berries and strawberries rise up to
my nostrils. Some bitter chocolate and almonds. Cappuccino. This is very
pleasant and rich. With water the meaty side comes to the fore, which I do not
      consider a plus.
    • Taste
The attack is powerful and sweet with a truckload of
fiery spices, nutmeg and ginger in the lead. A big dose of chilli peppers.
Balsamico and Tabasco. Then the chocolate with nuts kick in, as does the
candied syrup. No trace of any white fruit, though. Unless you add water. Then,
contrary to the nose, it turns sweeter and brings back the apples.
    • Finish
The finish is full and warm, pleasantly long, spicy
      and sweet.
