Whisky Reviews for Tobermory 1995 ED

4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 76.83 points

  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

One of those quirky modern Tobermory's. Nervous whisky, but fun to taste and not that bad at all (except for the nose).
    • Nose
Strange nose. Rubbery and chemical associations. Juniper berries. Grassy notes as well. Heather and hay.
    • Taste
Creamy with a good mouth texture. More sweet than I hd expected form the nose. Meaty. White grapes makes it very winey. Some citrus fruit. Also peat. Earthy notes.
    • Finish
Medium long. Mustardy and soft pepper.

  2. Vince scored this whisky 69 points Expert Senior

starts awkwardly, redeems itself somewhat with first sip, but goes downhill from there again.  water makes problem worse.
    • Nose
starts with some weird sour notes, but overall smell is fairly ordinary, light sweet, vanilla, slightly herbal?
    • Taste
vanilla sugary and somewhat bubblegum-like.  pleasant--but somewhat simple.  later a slight bitterness develops.
    • Finish
some plastic, linoleum notes emerge that give way to a more unpleasant bitterness.  difficult to get rid of this taste with subsequent sips.

  3. Sonett scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
      Latex, Grass, Hay, Vinegar
    • Taste
Sweet mixture of vanilla, grass and hay that turns into soft spices
    • Finish
Medium long with rubber influences and a light bitter almond touch

    Balance: ( 10/25)
    • Nose
( 10/25) Latex gloves, and I think that has to be peat, but wow that is weird peat.  Pickled red cabbage, carrots, cooked vinegar.   Hey if you like this sort of thing go for it, but at this point I am wondering if I should even drink this....
    • Taste
( 18/25) Much more subdued, a hint of smoke and a lot of peat. Besides the abundance of vegetables that may be on the edge of turning bad, there is a nice candied sugar behind everything.  So oil, vegetables, and sugar.
    • Finish
( 15/25) Again has that weird rubbery/ oily peat flavor that grows stronger and stronger almost becoming over powering.
