Drunk this # 39 together with a # 23 and a # 53. Then it is noticeable that in terms of smell it is much less emphatic than the other batches. Also in the taste it is slightly less intense, less stimulating, which is softer / friendlier. Incidentally, in terms of taste more in line with the # 23 than with the # 53.
Fruity, red fruit. Raisins. Somewhat sweet vanilla. Odor considerably less strong than other tried A'Bunadh batches.
Warming, fruity, red fruit, chocolate. Relatively soft (given the Abv), less 'bomb' and stimulating than other batches. Full taste.
Too bitter and too spicy (black pepper, coriander) for my taste, even after adding water. I would not pay 90€ for this bottle (price 2016) and buy two bottles of more recent, fruitier releases instead.
If I compare this with the batch 49, I have to admit a slight preference for the 49. I find the 39 just a bit too "dark" on the nose. The fruity of the 49 is more appealing to me. For the rest this is just fantastic whisky for a nice price.
