Whisky Reviews for Wild Turkey 101 Proof

Bottles with this livery are becoming harder to obtain, really good Bourbon with excellent value for money ratio, not as complex and impressive as it's 8 year old predecessor, but this 101 NAS successor is still a benchmark. Notes are from a bottle that has been open for 9 months, the whiskey was served neat.
    • Nose
cherry candy, herbaceous, candy corn, tangy notes develop, tangerine, orange peel, lemon juice, something floral as well, daisies, rosewater, after some time quite prominent vegetal notes,  cooked red paprika, later with very little remaining in the glass a brilliant aroma of blossom honey develops
    • Taste
rich and sweet, cherry candy and candy corn first, honey, becomes drier initially, some cinnamon, zesty, the citrussy notes of the nose show up, then the oak hits, overall a heavy and fat mouthfeel, smooth at the arrival, but shows it's brawny character in the development
    • Finish
floral notes immediately, turkish delight, cherry candy,  becomes drier, herbs, cinnamon, orange peel, a little pink grapefruit juice, a pleasant soft oakiness lingers, of medium length

  2. Svarttt scored this whisky 78 points Expert Senior

I am not an explicit bourbon fan but this is one of my favorites, the ratio of sweetness (vanilla, catamel) to the alcohol content fits. The PLV can hardly beat the liter bottle for € 20. Complexity is of course not to be expected
    • Nose
      76 76
      Subtle: vanilla, caramel, honey
    • Taste
      80 80
What you smell but much more intense
    • Finish
      78 78
And in the finish there are also surprising chocolate notes

  3. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

good bourbon, not too sweet, but also slightly spicy in the flavors, just with a little water. The rare breed is much better.

    • Nose
Vanilla, slight oak note, but clear note of adhesive, cloves,
    • Taste
Vanilla, cloves, oranges, slight bitterness on tap.
    • Finish
Spicy on tap, the alcohol is still noticeable, the sweetness vanished.

  7. Mr.Sandwich did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

The individual bottlings hardly differ in taste. This is ensured by the Blendmaster.
    • Nose
The high alcohol content makes it strong and peppery. Brings a nice sweet corn with it, which is complemented well by a little spice.
    • Taste
Notes of vanilla, caramel with honey, sweet Virginia tobacco and oranges. Due to the higher alcohol content again stronger. The strong note may be supported by a higher rye content.
    • Finish
Strong - pleasant finish with slightly alcoholic burning. Almost not bitter.
