84-85 range. For me personally this is more interesting than the Redbreast 12 and has more character to it. Really light and fresh but tons of fresh fruits to explore, this is a pot still I like. In the masterclass where this whiskey was presented I was probably the only person who liked Green spot more than the Redbreast 12 and found it as interesting as Yellow spot but hey, personal preferrences
    • Nose
Explosion of green apples and pears, so fresh, sweeter fruits slowly develop
    • Taste
very fresh, green apples again, vanilla
    • Finish
Spiciness that once again turns into the taste of apples, finish was probably the highlight of this whiskey for me

    S 8
Enjoyable, although it lacks the depth on the palate. Very nice American oak influence. Only a touch of Sherry influence towards the very end, I guess it's because only 25% of the whiskies are finished in Sherry casks.

[78-82] I'll gladly welcome another dram.

    N 26
Creamy vanilla apple tart. New oak. Sticky rice pudding (糯米糍). Plenty of menthol in the play. A whiff of coconut flakes and Jalapeño pepper. After 10 mins it becomes fairly buttery.

    P 24
Clean, smooth, and refreshing mouthfeel when it landed. Rich body with plenty of orchard fruit (red apples, pears, white guavas) juice. Crushed peppercorns. Toasted oak that's mildly buttery.

    F 23
Mid finish. Oaky, slightly dry. A mild touch of tropical fruits and fresh barley lingering.

A good representative of pot still whiskeys without age statement. Convinces with a fruity and idiosyncratic character. A few vol. percent more would certainly give it a more concise assertiveness. Overall, however, a good representative of the Emerald Isle.

    • Taste

A mild and somewhat thin mouthfeel, sour apple, apricot, a buttery cookie note, coconut grating, light vanilla, a little more spicy compared to the nose (light pepperiness).

green apples, caramel sauce, fruitiness, spicy, nice sherry influence, light and fresh body, citrusy, price/perfomance is perfect.

Relatively simple, somewhat flat-looking whiskey. Absolutely nothing wild, rather simple and tasty.
    • Nose
      81 81
very smooth and calm whiskey. Hardly any movement in the glass ... the aromas come through somewhat sparsely.
A few floral notes. Grain, grass, fresh hay, chamomile tea, and in addition there are somewhat stronger fruit notes of apple, pineapple, muesli note with honey, light citrus fruits appear in the background.
    • Taste
      80 80
Here, too, it has a soft, creamy start. Appears slightly watery. slight tingling. Taste is rather malty, light oak spice, vanilla, some toffee, in addition slightly fruity-sweet with pastries, looks a bit thin on the palate. Fruity notes transform into a sour component.
    • Finish
      80 80
Medium-long finish, dry, sweet and fruit fade quickly and a pleasant, subtle oak spice with a little vanilla remains.

Fresh, crisp green apple. Very creamy on the nose, for the abv it is surprisingly deep and layered. Warm and rich, bread soaked in sherry/red fruits
    • Taste

Green apples, citrus, a bit of vanilla and very gentle spice.
      Inviting nose.

    • Nose

    • Taste
Soft and slightly thin. Green apple, spicy oak, vanilla and grain.
    • Finish
      Medium length, spicy, fruity.

Using a combination of malted and unmalted barley, Green Spot is a prime example of triple distilled, traditional Irish Pot Still whiskey. Sweet apple cake, freshly cut grass and cereals feature prominently on the nose, and there are hints of pineapple, avocado and burnt cookies. After a light and floral arrival, the taste develops more grainy and yeasty with peach juice, fine spices and a touch of lemongrass. It's a bit thin and watery at times. The finish is moderate but altogether pleasant with mild oak, vanilla and licorice. This stuff is dangerously drinkable!

A lot of sweet notes, caramel, fudge and some vanilla ice-cream. It is a bit delicate, but that's normal. There is a hint of freshness in the background, but it's only little.
    • Taste

Would I rather have this or Redbreast 12? It‘s a toss-up, really, and depends on the day / mood. Elite Irish whiskey, in any case. Highly recommended.
    • Nose
Fresh! Guava and grapefruit, creamy with an underlying pot still spicyness that reminds me of bread crumbs and „dusty grains“ (if that makes sense). Further in the background: cloves and anise. Very nice combination of fruit and spice.
    • Taste
Incredibly smooth and silky at first, then takes a turn into refreshing, juicy, sweet-sour fruitiness before becoming seriously spicy (as in elegant, prickly oak tannins, not as in „hot“) and, finally, somewhat more dry and decidedly dusty. Way more dusty than the Redbreast 12, which I‘m comparing this with. Also more varied and interesting, taste-wise.
    • Finish
The fruit subsides, the sweetness lingers, but most of all we have this prolonged „dustiness“ that is so typical of pot still Irish. Peculiar but pleasant! Also, this does not taste young at all, despite the lack of an age statement. I can’t imagine this being much younger than 10-12 years on average.

    • Nose
Stewed fruit (melon, pear and mango), vanilla, lemon, apple juice, barley, raisins, hints of yeast and grass.
    • Taste
Barley, lemon, apples, pear, melon, raisins, cane sugar, cut grass, wood sawdust, nutmeg and pepper.
    • Finish
Medium-long, cane sugar, dry grass, lemon, pepper, hints of stewed fruit, nutmeg and oak.

Green Spot is light and easy going. Whilst arguably not complex there is some undoubtedly depth here – the balance is good and the fresh, summery flavours are ideal for relaxing with at the end of a long warm day.

Gold pour. Nose is fresh and lacks unpleasant booze/chemical notes I find in entry-level shelf Jameson pours. Light custard and orchard fruits. Mouth is custard, cream, a touch of nectarine. Nothing daring but refined and gentle, pleasant. A bit herbal/bitter on the finish, though it smacks even later with a nice cream sensation. Nice.

On the nose, cereals, vanilla, fresh yellow fruits! On the palate, it is sweet, a little too much, feeling of grass "drying", it's creamy, vanilla and spicy, no red fruit aromas like the US version! here, it's apple rather! In the final, it's quite short and very simple, it's misleading because without being a whiskey of thirst, it gets too well!

  40. Allandale scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    Easy drinking whiskey. Not complex.
    • Nose
Toffee and malt dominate, but still rather lean and clean, with a smattering of apple and pear.
    • Taste
Soft on the palate, with chewy maltiness and gentle fruit.
    • Finish
Not so long, quite short but lovely balance between the fruit and the malt.

    • Nose
Beautiful Fruit - dominating green apples, ripe pears, apricots and bananas
    • Taste
Sweet spices - malt, peaches, bananas, delicate spices. Later, green apples and citruses come in full strength, and the flavor compares to the scent
    • Finish
Malt, green apples, fine woodiness and fine spiciness. Warm, quite long

A whiskey very well done, entertaining. It is sorely lacking in complexity and madness but it will make you have a good time. The ideal is not to be too sensitive to vegetal notes;)
    • Nose
rather vegetal, with obvious notes of freshly cut grass, of green wood. It's very shy overall. Some notes here and there of roasted hazelnuts, walnuts, white peaches and not very ripe apples. A little sugar brought by banana and honey.
    • Taste
here we find the vegetal notes present on the nose, with a light and creamy texture. It's not unpleasant. Honey, vanilla, banana, peach and caramel are welcome to break the bitterness brought by the vegetal notes. The dried fruits, grilled, are always in the game: hazelnuts, almonds and nuts.

A pot still, as it is in the book.
Although the Green Spot has its own character, it is very close to Redbreast 12.
    • Nose
Much, much fruit. Typical pot still sweetie. Young wood and meadow herbs. Heather honey.
      An airy, light nose.
    • Taste
      Full-bodied and fruity. Pleasantly oily.
The unmalted barley contributes to the balanced combination of spiciness on the one hand and the taste of dried fruit on the other hand. Vanilla aromas appear over time.
    • Finish
      Medium.
The Green Spot keeps its character even in the finish and does not flatten. Towards the end it becomes drier, the herbs become more dominant.

Good for Irish Coffey. But he does not come in the glass anymore
    • Nose
Sprittig (owed to his youth), a little malt, fresh with a little oak. Later lemon
    • Taste
The oak wood now completely covers the malting note. The freshness is accompanied by a pleasant sweetness. Ansonnsten rather thin
    • Finish
      Short and boring

Nose: Hints of peppermint, sweet barley, creamy vanilla, and citrus.

Palate: Soft and gentle with some bourbon, some oak and menthol.

Finish: A rather long finish with my favorite vanilla; and a nice finish.

    Playful nose, maybe a
bit too playful, but on the palate and the finish it kind of collapses. Around
    35 EUR.
    • Nose
      Honeysweet, but soft
nose on honey, vanilla, dough, hay and apples. Pears, too. Floral touch. A bit
of mint. Evolves toward Petit Beurre cookies with butter. Hint of milk
      chocolate. Fresh, but light.
    • Taste
      It is clean, on the
palate, but the body is a bit light. The floral element is very dominant.
Chemical sweetness, which is a shame. Citrus, peel included. Breakfast cereals.
Some green wood. A salty edge. Spicy.
    • Finish
      The long finish on
citrus and nutmeg work towards a bitter finale.

    • Nose
fresh and fruity, vanilla, malt and lots of light fruits (especially pear), very sweet
    • Taste
First you notice the youth briefly - but then the sweetness and fruitiness gain the upper hand. The vanilla and some oak come to light
    • Finish
The finish is then creamy and surprisingly long, some oak and remains of the pear, a lot of malt

On my nose here I get heather honey, orange marmalade, green apples, rhubarb, lime, menthol and grass. Frisk. The taste is full and sweet; I get plums, strawberry jam, cloves and gooseberries. The sweetness builds up and I get some honey towards the ending. The finish has some sweetness that is well balanced against freshness first in both smell and taste, with caramel, burnt toast, honey, cherry and dried fruit. The freshness comes back after a while, and afterwards ebber out in a dry, long and thoughtful metallic tone. With water I get more nibble in addition to pear and tea, the taste is getting even more honey, while the finish gets some blueberries and a clearer grain.

I much prefer the Redbreast to stay on a similar product.
    • Nose
      Gourmand, biscuity, malty, cereal, fruity
    • Taste
Sharp and fruity attack. A sweet malty backing coats the fruits.
    • Finish
Spicy, and unfortunately a little short on a slightly alcoholic return similar to a gin. Bitterness a little too present on the end of the mouth.

  71. Bishlouk scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Nose quite powerful and pleasant on yellow fruits and a cereal tip.

The mouth is too light because of the dilution. Some peppery notes appear.

Short finish on white pepper and fruits (yellow apple).

  72. granella2003 scored this whisky 76 points Connoisseur

From the beginning of this whiskey has been a sweet, rich

flavor and all that skips in a great spiciness.
The taste has flavors of dried fruit and apple.

The aftertaste has aromas of fruit and nuts

It's a shame you cannot leave it in the glass for a long time. The flavours subside heavily and swiftly in my view.
    • Nose
Green, lawn, dried hay, heather honey, charcoal, dates, vanilla, spearmint, menthol, sour grapes, carnation, pickles.
    • Taste
Clean, light-bodied. Malty, sweet cereal note, tannic, chocolate, brine, citrus, salted peanuts, zesty warmth.
    • Finish
Citric, woody, lemon rind, honey, nutmeg, candied peel, herbal bitterness (rhubarb?), caramel, ex-bourbon barrel.
