Bunnahabhain, as he should be: dirty, not adapted and not immediately accessible, but dusty. You first have to blow away the dust to see the shine. And very sherrylastig, heavy and ripe. A characterful whisky.
    • Nose
Dirty sherry, plums, some tobacco, cherries, chocolate, motor oil, red meat, mushrooms and earth
    • Taste
Creamy medium body, hot on the tongue, raisins, beef broth, dark cherries, a hint of sulfur, dark chocolate, pleasant but distinct bitterness, spicy oak
    • Finish
Earthy warm finish, oak, but hardly bitter, the memory of the cherries and the chocolate, again a little sulfur, long and dry towards the end

Nose: Creamy Likoer, slightly rounder, more tobacco, smoky, a lot of white chocolate, raisins, caramel and a little vanilla. Then a mélange of delicate orange and Mon Cherie pralines
Taste: Balanced and creamy, lots of sherry, chocolate, raisins and tobacco. Strongly salty with delicate smoky notes of wood as well as cocoa aromas and nuances.
Finish: Long, dry-spicy, but still complex with oily mouthfeel. The woody notes are more pronounced and remain in the dry finish for a long time.
    90 points (nose: 90 / taste: 90 / finish: 89)

  5. alectron scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
First of: thick liquor, wet/juicy rasisins, sherry, oak, red wine tannins, concrete & a faint tar note. (88)
A bit later: still dominated by raisins, oak & red wine/grape tannins, also some red apples & some vanilla & caramel, also a nice waxern & smokey note underneath (extinguished candle ?), (90)
    • Taste
oily, juicy, sherry influence with some nice raisins & dried plums, a brief dry, bitter & spicy attach (85)
    • Finish
fading out with a few bitter echoes, but more raisins & dried plums come up, also some cherries, a sprinkle of cinnamon, (88)
