  1. ASWhisky scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Ranking: 1.Nase, 2. Mund, 3.Abgang Not as complex and pleasant in the mouth as in the nose, the finish becomes boring then an always welcomed dram
    • Nose
the sourish cucumber water as a background note, very smoky, weak Kuhstall smell, floral sour note then dominates, smoking fruit pulp from ripe fruit on a moist wooden plate, the cowshed always remains present, he smells so that you want to drink Complex, beautifully interwoven notes, he smells older than 10y
    • Taste
wow a great deal of smoke, light alcohol, sweet bright fall, then comes a lot of chocolate powder, a cloud of smoke with chocolate powder, hot ash mixed with slightly bitter chocolate powder remains on the tongue, on the palate it smokes fierce, on the tongue dry and not very sweet
    • Finish
medium, chocolate powder, dry, smoky - ashy, little sweet,

I like it very much. The nose makes you want more, the onset on the tongue is strong, but also undiluted very well balanced. wlk 17-8
    • Nose
Pleasant smoke, mild yet fine-spicy. A bacon note in the background. Hmm, that's a very fine nose. I like it very much. Not too intrusive, but not so restrained that the smoke disappears immediately. Old leather and dried tobacco leaves, nutmeg. From obliquely left behind, elderberries are pushing in.
    • Taste
I try first undiluted ... A very strong start with smoke, salt, pepper and old wood. Caramelized marshmellows. Spices come with water - quite concentrated: oregano, juniper, cardamom, nutmeg, pepper. In addition, bright, immature apples. The smoke decreases in intensity over time, then comes a good dose of salt and smoked bacon.
    • Finish
Medium long, slightly dry, wood chips, Black Forest ham, salt, leather notes. Later, liquorice notes are added.

An exciting Port Charlotte, I love Madeira barrels, that is confirmed here, on the nose slightly on the verge of exhausting, but great in the mouth
    • Nose
Nutty and slightly floral Port Charlotte, almonds, tart red fruit, plums, a bit of sulfur, dirty, would almost pass as Ledaig for me, sweet berries, overall quite sweet, the smoke is spicy, slightly fizzy, a little pepper and salt, Salted pretzel, caramel
    • Taste
it has a lot of strength, sweet, sour, dirty, berries, salt, plums, the Madeira comes across well, raspberry, the smoke is dry, you can taste the sour fruit really intensely, great mouthfeel and exciting
    • Finish
Vanilla, the smoke becomes more dominant, but now and then the tart fruit comes through again and again, pepper, becoming creamier, long-lasting

For his 64.6% Vol. He has his alcohol under control well. I had typed on Ü 50. I can only connect with the nosing and tasting of previous speakers. Nice part. Blindtasting
    • Nose
I liked the nose from the beginning. Fruity, woody, smoky. My case
    • Taste
At the age of 10, he is not yet so strong

With water he looks a little more medically

A great malt a lot of Wums, peat and oak.
    • Nose
Peat, but not as massive as at the beginning. A certain sweetness, slightly mellow wood and quite a bit of alcohol. With water, the peat is initially stronger, but after a short time, the barrel with its strong spiciness takes over the helm. Delicious.
    • Taste
Just a little taste explosion. He is hot and therefore probably strong. But again peat, sweetness and a great, very spicy wood note in the background. There seems to have been a barrel of European oak in the game. With water pepper and a lot of oak, the peat is almost a marginal phenomenon.
    • Finish
Peat, a lot of oak, a lot of oak and a subtle fruitiness.

A characterful whisky. Strong and robust, but not uncomplex.
    • Nose
Pleasant camp fire smoke, waxy honey sweetness, dark fruits behind it. Increasingly spicy aromas.
    • Taste
The smoke is biting. Phenolic and strong. The alcohol is clearly noticeable. He tolerates a few drops of water well. Again spicy with sal ammoniac and salt. Dark fruit in the background.
    • Finish
Long with smoke, leather and tobacco as well as slightly sweet.

Nose: greasy aromatic smoke (burned hay / herbs), acid notes and some muff (peat?), Salt, mayonnaise, port wine influences, dry wood and herbs rich in herbs and peppery spices (European oak?),
Taste: glowing warm, hot charcoal, berries, dry sweetness, a lot of wood and "fire", with water much creamier and not so fiery, but a bit more fruity and the wood becomes more dominant with pleasant bitterness and sweetness (licorice). Long woody finish.
Own and very good even if I needed some time and water to get warm with it
    Notes from a blind tasting!

I also blinded him and did not recognize him again. I would not have come to a wine barrel. If you know, Laddie or PC comes through quickly, but blind almost impossible. Need some water, because it is too powerful and powerful therefore comes. Then it becomes smoother and softer, the typical Madeiranoten come to light and it shines through a long phenolic finish. For a PC but very smoky. The wood or oak is optimal from my point of view and the storage time with 10 years has been chosen in my opinion just right. Compliment!

    Smoke with dirty sweet
    • Nose
Dirty, deep raisin, aromatic smoke, ashes, smoked bacon, then more and more Madeira, plums, orange peel Water receives the impressions completely. Everything just seems a bit more interwoven. The fruits become more dominant and also slightly more fermented.
    • Taste
Heavy smoke, deep sweetness, ashes, orange peels again, water brings creaminess, makes it less violent, but does not break anything
    • Finish
Typical Port Charlotte finish, paired with a filthy sweetness, the oak pulls the water out of his mouth, the Malt lingers eeeewig in the mouth

  10. malthead-sven scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

a real force, exotic-smoky and very complex in aroma, has plenty of room for the addition of water
    • Nose
Hubba-Bubba chewing gum, straight smoke, cinnamon buns, soy sauce, becomes sweet with water, red and white candy canes, smoke stings every now and then, wet sand, firm British wine gum, mandarins, physalis
    • Taste
immense start, immediately smoke on the tongue, is glowing, dry and then even sweet in the end
    • Finish
very strong but comparatively little oak spiciness, herbs, including clearly anise, warming and very long
