I re-taste this bottle already noted at the end of 2016. I find the nose less interesting than at the time, however, the finish pleases me better.
Subtle whisky, with well integrated and not predominant sherry. The alcohol level is sufficient for a Lowland to be enjoyed during the day. A successful whisky, even if you can miss its subtlety during a tasting compared with heavier whiskys.

    Color: amber,
    dark copper

Aroma: Strong nut and cereal flavors. In addition, bright fruits, such as apple and pear and subtle citrus notes. Delicate honey tones in the background, the nut flavors always in the foreground. He gets a bit sharper over time.

Taste: First of all, I notice the dry mouthfeel. Then comes a strong ginger sharpness, which is quickly replaced by a fruity sweetness. Chocolate notes, a little vanilla and malt, with the nuts again. It follows a beautiful oak, without disturbing Bitternoten.

Finish: Medium to long, sweet and spicy with a subtle, slightly warmth.

Conclusion: A beautiful, full, mature and harmonious whisky, which is anything but boring.

Not so light, but also not so refined. It’s a pass for me dawg.
    • Nose
Sharp. Citrus, faint sherry, nutty overtones, vanilla.
    • Taste
Hot. Rough. Full body. Quite spirity. Some orange and sherry.
    • Finish
Dry, oak. Quickly fades to the strangest note of... marijuana...?

The elegance of the Lowlands does not mean lack of character. A very good local whisky.
    • Taste
In the same register as the nose, a certain sweetness (almond) mixed with a salty side (lemony).

I'd like to add that this expression improves a lot after some oxidation in the bottle. It's getting less sharp and much more complex. More honey and more nuts either.

The nose is very nice, but the rest doesn't really deliver for me.
    • Nose
Roasted malt, singed toast, lanolin, nectarines, hints of rose and orange. Slightly sharp, but very nice.
    • Taste
Nice liquid malt front end with floral notes and the slightly burnt notes coming through. The vanilla doesn't quite hold it together. A little disappointing after the promise of the nose.
    • Finish
No great length with some bitterness.

The nuttiness is remarkable, slight perfume note-a hint of apricot, subtle gingerbread or spiciness of the barrels, sweet honey / caramel and the typical Auchentoshan citrus note always comes out clearly. Nosing alternates between the nuttiness, a pleasant sweetness and the scent of lemon, orange peel mouthfeel is creamy, with a slight spiciness, a pleasant fruity sweetness, from time to time I feel like the Bowmore-tiffle knocks on, but not unpleasantly. A medium-length finish which dries out the back, becomes chocolatier, the oak is subtly in the foreground, spice increases with fructose. Due to the triple distillation, the malt is very mild and the bottling with 46% does it very well! Unfortunately again colored by deduction in the B-note ;-(
