    Blenders Glass.
The taste is excellent (very good for smoking cigars or pipes). Perhaps the best (yes, there is only one) Auchentoshan that I liked.

L3613 - tasted 23 days after uncorking. It takes a lot of time to breathe to unfold in all its complexity. Rounder and with reduction of the wort then more diverse with 10 gtt water to 40ml. The 23 days of service life did all aspects well.
A very successful triple-distilled, elegant PX sherry whisky with high complexity.
PRICE (€ 133.95 = significantly exaggerated compared to the ThreeWood or Glendronach 21yo, for example) - despite all the wonderful aspects, it is not worth more than about € 90 to me

    • Nose
Delicate, woody sherry on dried fruit, cooked fruit. With the opening, floral and mint accents that increase the complexity, it becomes deeper and deeper.
    • Taste
Fleshy, rather greedy on chocolate, it is soft and consistent. Rather wise and a bit straight.
    • Finish
Oily, oily and delicious, in continuity.

Prejudices can be a tricky thing. An overpriced NAS Auchentoshan - this 'Solera' can't be good! Well, it is. Finished in PX casks and bottled at 48% ABV, the nose of this Lowlander is delightful, complex and layered. Dark fruits, Christmas spices and white chocolate harmonize with rosewater, orange peel and hints of thyme. On the palate, the flavors shift to stone fruits, mild pepper and quality wood, and there is an herbal edge with mint, coffee and walnuts migrating into the medium-length finish. I thank the 'Toshan Man' for recommending this treat!

A good proof there can be power and lots of taste in a Lowland. They should do more of this.
And I should get me a bottle if I can, as this was only a sample; thanks to Slàinte Mhath.
    • Nose
      90 90
      Wonderful nose. Rich yet soft.
      Deep sherry, raisins and plums.
      Sugary sweet with orange chocolate.
    • Taste
      91 91
Fat, round, full on PX cask, yet not a complete bomb.
Lots of dark fruits, quality wood.
      Chocolate and espresso coffee.
At a lower strenght the sweetness might have been too much, but this is almost perfectly ballanced, as the spice and darker flavours emerge the sweetness recided.
    • Finish
      92 92
Spice builds up gradually and carry over into the finish.
The espresso is going a little bitter and dry.
Slow fade in a rather long finish where I find the distillery profile to be most noticable.
      Very nice.

I think the PX is definitely not my thing ... Too excessive, this whisky is in itself very good, but a little too powerfully carried by the sweet, sweet and vinous side for my personal taste. But it does not prevent, it remains an excellent whisky!
    • Nose
Big influence of sherry, it's woody, quite spicy, it's quite extreme I must say! Big cocoa, mass of young oak, it seems almost a bourbon at times! I have trouble finding the usual Auchentoshan markers, the PX crushes everything in its path. Sherry fans will appreciate!
    • Taste
Rich enough texture, fairly dry attack, then powerful enough on sherry, fruity, chocolate, power that makes the whole rather convincing. Coffee notes too. Wood. Very sweet, a little too much, notes of caramelized sugar that quickly become overwhelming.
    • Finish
Long enough, still chocolate and a feeling of persistent astringency.

The Auchentoshan Solera, dyed, but not cool filtered, and as usual in the Lowland distillery, distilled three times, is the logical continuation of the Three Wood. He is even fuller, more elegant, deeper. A well-made NAS whisky made from excellent barrels can be a pleasure.
    • Nose
The Solera has a beautiful first nose, the PX finish provides a very elegant, deep sweetness. Sherry, juicy plums, ripe cherries. Baked apples, honey and a wonderful mint fresh join, the 48% alcohol are wonderfully integrated.
    • Taste
The oily volume with the full PX aromas occupies the entire mouth; On the palate, there is also a touch of ginger, the juicy fruits and the sherry in all its sweetness ensure seductive sustainability. Very pleasant, full of elegant depth.
    • Finish
The finish from the Nosingglas is medium to long, now dominated by the sherry, then followed by some oak, before the dark fruits line up in the tasty farewell songs.

A wonderful silence, for this distillery just a bomb, in the sad and sad constellation of Ahentoshen for me the second supernova flashed brightly into the company for Tree Wood. Dry enough for the finish RX, although the sweetness sometimes and slip, in general, did not leave the feeling that this is Oloroso, which in no way detracts from the merits of this mole.
    • Nose
Open, moist, cooled black tea leaves (leaves), prunes - juicy and unsweetened, processed noble wood, raisins, kvasnoe wort, sherry sourish, dried fruits, slightly burnt dried apples, dried pears, cocoa, bitter chocolate, some vanilla, very deep and rich, very nice.
    • Taste
Enveloping, oily, sweet and sour, sherry, prunes and raisins, burnt crackers, notes of dark beer, the standard seemingly sherry components, but here they form a different, individual picture different from the general flow, well.
    • Finish
The sherry sourish with beer gristle against the background of prunes, burnt biscuits and leavened wort is very fresh and easy.

    • Nose
Nuts, deep, raisins, candles and beeswax, figs, rye, chocolate
    • Taste
Darker, but not too heavy sherry, light nut, the wax again, has something of rye, marzipan, chocolate, sweetness, almonds, raisins
    • Finish
Dates, figs, almonds and sherry marzipan continue, long and beautiful

    • Nose
Orange, chocolate, cinnamon, a touch of mint
    • Taste
Powerful, creamy and full bodied. Some balsamic mixed with ginger spice and some obvious sherry.

There are also notes of full bodied red wine, basically tannins are present.

Towards the end its gets noticeably sweeter which I really liked.

    • Taste

  42. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Great sherry whisky, fat, intense, round, but not overcrowded or too woody. And it is nice that the smell of Auchentoshan is recognizable. By far better than the 21er (and also more expensive).
    • Nose
Great nose - first jumps briefly) against a fresh-fruity note of the Brennereicharakter reminiscent of the more recent standards (12er, Classic), apple, floral, then come warm and velvety the sherryoten - raisins, dried figs, caramel, cinnamon, viiiiel Marzipan, some gingerbread, chocolate ... will not get boring.
    • Taste
full-bodied, intense, bittersweet, dark chocolate, orange and blackberry jam, gingerbread, spiced biscuit, cinnamon, sweet tobacco, oak ...

A special and very elegant whisky matured in bourbon casks and a nice finish on Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. This extremely intense and full flavors. The scent is already a major suspect to the wonderful flavors, seductively sweet, caramel, candy sugar, blueberries and raisins are paramount. The wonderful fragrance remain up during the beginning of my first sip ....... The mellow flavor of oak and flavors of dark fruit and chocolate make it sweet and full of a wonderful taste palate.
The warm cherry "touch" and chocolate are still long in the aftertaste retrieval, a extremely full whisky

Absolutely fantastic Auchentoshan that reminds me of the amazing and
award winning Auchentoshan 1999 Warehouse Range from Malts of Scotland. Not
cheap, to be sure, but what a party!
    • Nose
The nose is very creamy on beeswax and extremely sweet on dark fruit. Raisins, maraschino cherries, fresh figs, dades, Sirop de Liège, blackberries, candied sugar, Arabica coffee from Ecuador. I can go on for quite a while, you know. Rosewater, cinnamon, mint and balsamico. Chocolate after a few minutes. Is there no end to this party? Soothing. Unctuous. Voluptuous and seductive, indeed! Stunning nose. I am not exaggerating when I say I nosed this whisky for twenty minutes.
    • Taste
Delicious mouthfeel. So full and round, you can almost chew it. Again
all those beautiful, dark fruits, with a slightly drying touch of oak. This is
a dessert in its own right. Bittersweet with some orange marmalade, dark
chocolate and roasted almonds. Cinnamon, saffron and seasoned oak.
    • Finish
The chocolate and maraschino cherries return in the long, warm finish.

Auchentoshan Solera is named after a process for producing and ageing sherry due to the use of Pedro Ximenez casks in this expression. Renowned as the "King of all Sherries", Pedro Ximenez casks add contrasting deep aromas and textures. Solera is dark, intense and alluring - perfect for moments of pure indulgence or as a gifting item.
