It's not a fruit bomb like many other casks from the same year and bottler but it's a more serious and complex bottling. Very rich, creamy and powerful. Fantastic!
    • Nose
      93 93
Very malty, dry hay, spices, cloves, hints of dried fruits, little apricot, little papaya, coconut, little honeydew, whiffs of vanilla, oak wood, pepper - very good!
    • Taste
      96 96
Very, very oily, creamy, mellow, sirupy, punchy, subtle sweetness, tons of spices, pepper, little vanilla, little cinnamon, ginger, little citric, also some cooked fruits, oranges, apricot, oak wood - excellent!
    • Finish
      94 94
Long, warm, spicy, zesty, more punchy, peppery, little more oak wood but not drying, not tannic, little grapefruits, lemon peel - great!

    nose
Also here soft and round, rather salty, oily. No smoke. Slightly mineral, suddenly somehow sweet but in an unusual way, not sugar-sweet rather spicy-sweet like forest honey. Reminds of the scent when you burn fresh pine needles.

    taste
Again softer, less strong but tasty. Now light campfire smoke, and still oily, tart, spicy and a little machine grease.

    Exit
Salty, oily, light campfire. Seashore, harbor! Now significantly less sweet, but no less tasty. Oysters. Tart, slightly bitter, then again very maritime.

    Conclusion
I would have expected more smoke, so the dram is primarily maritime and super tasty. Here, too, time-honored and soft but with strong aromas.

Sweet dried fruits, dried papaya, coconut and guava, honey, custard cream, some herbs, an excellent springbank

[February, 2005]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 105 Euro in November, 2004.

[September, 2015]  Together with friends I emptied another bottle that I bought for 105 Euro in November, 2004.

In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored this 92,5 and 95.  My notes state an unbelievable complex and delicate profile with no flaws or off-notes at all.  Very long finish that is chewable.  One of my favourite Springbank of all times!
