    beautiful nose!
imposing peat, dry smoke, woody, citrus fruits cooked with their zest, return more on the cold smoke, on the ash, peppery and almost sweet spices are distinguished, the lime is candied
a final sweetness at the end of the palate!

    Caol ila 18yo 93/12 DD 51.8%
N: Smoke rather clean, ashes, olive, iodine. sherry is not very present.
B: More fat. We find a large part of the aromas of the nose with a false Ardbeg side. Very powerful.
    F: Long and ashy
C: Makes me think of the Ardbeg MOS for VZ

On the nose, ... not much !!

Then the magic operates with a crescendo peat, citrus on lime, a little mint!

The smoke comes out at this moment with woody traces.
    • Nose
glue, then peat quite light, a little varnish, fruits on the orange and lemon a little cooked, return of cold ash.
      pronounced spices.

  7. Rom scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

Nose expressive, light smoke, a little Cleopatra glue, lemon yellow. Beautiful thick texture, sherry is very present from the onset, with dried fruits (hazelnut, almond) caramel and a little dark chocolate then smoke appears and dominates the whole. Final long, salty, on the ash. Aeration will do a lot of good by making it more expressive.

A very good Caol Ila. However, the volume of peat surprised me a bit. And I was expecting a bit more scalability. And more sherry. Like what, the more we have expectations ...

    • Nose
Well peated. Very peaty for a Caol Ila, even. The ashy side asserts itself in a second time. Behind, sweetness, yellow fruits, a warm atmosphere. Beautiful duality between presence and delicacy. With the opening, fresher with minty accents.
    • Taste
Very fitting with the nose, quite juicy.
    • Finish
Spicy, with an aftertaste of ash.

  9. Jean-Brice scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

a powerful but finely peated whisky
    • Nose
Smoked peat, fruit notes in the background (red fruits), rather fine
    • Taste
Very smoky, on charcoal, barbecue, smoked fish, coarse grains, sea spray
    • Finish
      long, salty and smoke
