Intense but soft, tropical fruits, orange peel, salt and peat, little smoke due to age. Simply fantastic.

Distant campfire in the fog. Pickled lemons. Some vanilla sugar. Leather, damp earth and wet leaves. With water come sweet oranges and some butter.

Lemon drops, apricots and honey. Some smoked fish with pepper. A trail of beeswax and earth.

Pale gold pour. Nose is straight on cracked grain, fermented apple, smoked peat. Soft lemon and vanilla, though not overly sweet. Mouth is fairly sharp, really focused on the lemon curd and smoked peat. Kind of narrow, finishes with lots of smoke and something approaching bitterness. Smoked lemons. Certainly good, but one of the least impressive Port Ellens from this era that I've had. A bit narrow, singular, and thin. As it opens something I'd call "almond oil" comes out more. Also, with direct comparison to a couple other Port Ellen bottles of the same era, a grapefruit skin aroma and flavor that's fairly prominent. I pushed up a score a bit. Thinner and hotter than the others but interestingly aggressive and raw.

Let's take you on your journey
It offers an incredible wealth of different taste sensations
a rollercoaster ride .. sit back, be surprised and enjoy
    and new at each dram

    I like it
    mmh, I like them indeed
and I have touched the sky
    • Nose
the first seconds in the glass ..... hairspray ... upps
keep cool and take your time
Tobacco and leather, ripe banana, smoke, salt, tingling lemon scent, the smell of the evening with the freshness of the next morning
    • Taste
a lot of salt, and sea, tar in the sand ...
a night on the beach is over, the morning freshness comes
it still tastes of leather on the tongue, of old tobacco,
      > grilled honey banana and pepper steak with campfire smoke
      > sharp heat mixes with the morning by the sea
      > Salt, orange, iodine, very fresh and yet hot and hot again
    • Finish
      long and dry
Salt with smoke and a lot of exotic sweetness, perfectly connected
      > Tobacco with brown Panama sugar

    My first port Ellen ...
And since he has tasted excellent (crap but also, so ne delicious but damn expensive distillery ...) probably not my last ...
    • Nose
Right off maritime! Smoke, leather saddle and cowshed. Some pepper, caramel sauce and citrus freshness. Canned tobacco and despite the 55.5% no alcohol note! Very well integrated.
With H2O comes more leather and more sweetness. After a while mineral notes are added. A real schnueffel whisky
    • Taste
Powerful start with lots of smoke, leather and oak. There are also maritime notes, some pepper and a pleasant sweetness.
    • Finish
Very round and balanced. Lots of smoke and tart oak notes. Maritim with some pepper.
