Whisky Reviews for Glengoyne 1969
3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 92.46 points
- Medium to heavy-bodied. Very good whisky, and a fine example of old Glengoyne at cask strength.
Malt-covered old wooden boards, cherry-infused sherry, old earthy warehouse, nutty malt (not too heavy), toffee, citrus, orange, prunes, powerful honey develops after a while, fruity liquorice, wonderful wood spices, heavy wood after some time so heavy you want to chew it (in a pleasant way), chocolate, some high quality cognac, grapefruit covered with syrup, unburnt peat, really nice tannins, apple cake.
Nutty sherry, old oak, sweet grapefruity tannins, cream, tobacco, tropical fruits interchanging over time, really mouthcoating, boiled candy.
Long. Nutty sherry, sweet grapefruity tannins, tobacco, herbs and sherry spices, honey in the background, malty throughout.
- The nose is quite fresh and of good body. There are notes of
marzipan and fudge, hints of stewed apples and a biscuity note. Hints of honeyed
peels and juicy sugared orange. The palate is of good body with exquisite
balance. There are notes of marmalade and tangy citrus with honey and a touch of
salinity, notes of bitter oak and chewy exotic fruit salad. The finish is long
with a developing oak.
