Whisky Reviews for Talisker 1978 RWD

- Beautfiful sherried talisker, maybe I would have preferred a slightly higher abv but all in balance and elegance.
- A great example of an old sherried Talisker, exceptional cask
Elegant sherry, rich dates and leather, mixed with cognac-ish/rum-ish grapes, no trace of smoke
Very herbal, camphor, fresh cut mints, dates, silky mouthfeel, savoury, moving round and round in your mouth and dont want to swallow it, dynamic.
Elegance, not much wood
- After a fantastic nose, elegant and complex, the palate is more austere but reveals a great complexity. The finish is very high level too. Superb whisky.
Birthday tasting note from july 2017.
Elegant sherry nose. Dried fruits (prunes, raisins), a few black and red fruits in the background, tobacco (cigar), leather, spices. Slightly dusty. With time, coastal notes appear.
Punchy, dry and smoky. Tobacco, dark chocolate, pepper and wood. Keep it on the tongue, swallow it slowly and it brings back some fruity and sweet notes. Still quite drying.
Long, smoky, red fruits are lingering.
- Very much about wood, tobacco and cigars - rather austere - I'm missing a little bit of fruitiness or balanced sweetness. Anyways very drinkable and good
Sherry wood, tobacco, cigars, hints of toffee, old books - really old touch - not bad
Punchy, hints of smoke, tobacco and cigars again, bitter chocolate, peppery, sherry wood, rather dry - pretty good
Medium long, more zesty, a tad bitter in the end
