Whisky Reviews for Laphroaig Cask Strength
7 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.47 points
- Laphroaig Tasting Notes:
Colour: Rich, deep gold
Nose: Powerfull, smoke and earthy aromas, seaweed
Body: Full bodied
Taste: Massive peat smoke, huge flavour, complex, seashore salt, fading sweetness at the finish
Finish: Long and savoury
- After living with this bottle, I'm acclimating to it and liking it more and more. Still, this is the full frontal assault. Deep iodine, richly flavored.
- For the Laphroaig smoke lover, this has to be close to nirvana. Not so for me. I prefer the smoke dialed back and balanced with other flavors. A little water helps reduce the cask strength punch, but the smoky phenolics still dominate.
Fruity, mild apple, hint of smoke. Very pleasant and inviting. Surprisingly, it is unlike other Laphroaigs where I can smell the smoke across the room.
OMG! Powerful smokiness, burnt plastic-like phenols, rubber tire, salty. Strong, in your face presence on the tongue and palate. Full bodied. At 56.3% abv, it is definitely alcoholic, but the alcohol is not hot. It is hard to think about anything other than the smoke with this one.
Long, lingering phenolic finish. Minutes later there is still a campfire in my mouth.
- Thanks to Mongo at WWW for pointing out the difference between the 2 available Batch002 releases...!
- The ABV is different form Batch 002 700ml
