[November, 2002]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 79 Euro in October, 2002.

[November, 2011]  Together with friends I emptied another bottle that I bought for 79 Euro in October, 2002.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 87,5 and 90.  My notes state the typical maritime and slightly peaty Talisker profile that is so quaffable...

    A oily body.
    • Nose
Wild garlic. Blanched  spinach with cracked black pepper.
    • Taste
Starts  smoothly and has huge development toward earthy, chive-like, seaweed, medicinal notes.
    • Finish
Soft and smooth on the tongue, drying toward a late surge of salt, ground white pepper and lactic acidity.

A storm in the mouth. A great thing. Absolutely for the winter.
    • Nose
No smoke, some alcohol, fresh. Floral notes get behind the alcohol. In light nut flavor.
    • Taste
Sharp, Chilli Catch begins. After a while in the mouth a little sweet and then swallowing full broadside. The tears shoot one in the eyes. Mighty vapor of the drops. The second sip more subdued and even sweeter. Sea comes through. The sharpness settles in the mouth.
    • Finish
Due to the contrasting sharpness long and a little bit salty.

    Grand, brackish,
probably rather young Talisker. Not for pansies, though. Thanks, Jeroen.
    • Nose
      The nose is very
clean, but also quite austere. Loads of maritime elements. Shells, snails,
rocky beach, fish oil and a hint of lemon juice. Peat, wood, stockfish. Lamp
oil! Smidge of smoke. Very attractive, but a lot less fruity than I am used to
      from Talisker.
    • Taste
      Great body with an
explosion of pepper, salt and peat upon arrival. The lemons return immediately,
sugar coated peel, but that does not last long. It is all about the salt with
this one. Brackish, but oh so good. Very smoky now.
    • Finish
      The brackish notes
continue all the way into the medium long, very peppery finish.
