    Tasting: July 2022
    • Nose
      Black tea, strawberries, tropical fruits, vanilla, red berries, a fantastic sweetness in balance. Nutty, waxy and very complex. The nose is full of promises!
    • Taste
      A fantastic fruit sweetness with a little creamy vanilla. Mature peaches, light chocolate, nuts, peppermint, light honey, ripe red apples, cedar, syrup and red berries. Full bodied, complex and very well balanced.
    • Finish
      Long! A balance between sweetness of nectar, red fruits, mild spices, light chocolate, peppermint and vanilla. A creaminess that is very good!

    This is a holy f*cking sh*t whisky.
    Complex but oh so very perfect.

      Sweet and waxy. Complex nose, very pleasent but hard to put the finger on the nose and taste.
      Nutty and fruity, reminds me of an older Clynelish but fruitier, though the same waxiness.
      Red berries and and vanilla nectar. A hint of corn in melted butter.

      Very nice ABV level, doesnt need water. Very fruity sweet (tropical fruits) and bold.
      Spices and walnuts. Maybe some cinnamon? Very nice waxy coating in the mouth.
      Notes of oak and cedar wood.

      Sweet fruity, warming and waxy. Vanilla and wood. Some spices linger.

    Water is needed for this one, and it can take a lot of water!

    Without water, about 88, with water probably 89 ish 90.
    • Nose
      90 90
      Vanilla bean, manuka honey, fried egg, bitter gourd, star anise, licorice. Moving on to raisins, milk chocolate, fresh milk, cinnamon, slightly burnt toast, pork crackling.
    • Taste
      90 90
      Very herbal from the get-go. Menthol, peppermint, chervil, star anise, camphor, cloves, coriander, and sage.

      Fruit notes are minimal, but there are some persimmon, apricot, and pineapple. A little bit sour on the fruits, like unripened plums, pomegranate, and/or grapefruit.

      A bit of water brings up spiciness, black peppercorn, and scotch bonnet taste.

      Nutty and minty fresh.

      Powerful, long-lasting whiffs of wax, lemon, beancurd, and all the aforementioned herbal notes. The bitterness is hardcore in this one, and water will be needed to soften the profile.

    Nice and sweet, somewhat vintage-inspired malt, which also has a certain spice and bitter orange, intense and hearty, delicious.

      Subtle old bottle flavors, although from 2005, strange, waxy, slightly dusty, peanut, macadamia, light malt, freshly polished oak, freshly oiled leather, bitter orange, dried dates, banana must, sweet yeast dough, brioche, marzipan
    • Taste
      Intensive brioche, light raisins, banana jellies, marzipan, honeydew melon, litchi, pear sauce, pecans, cinnamon, camphor, dates, sweet malt, lots of orange with peel, chamomile tea, meaty and hearty
    • Finish
      Mandarin, almond nut, red apple, camphor, nutmeg, malt, long

    Re taste:-
    This is better than I remember, and more powerful with a nice peat angle but it is the lovely grapefruit/pineapple fruit note that you notice.
    Increase in score from 89 to 92, great stuff, lovely

    [First]: Powerful fragrance Top side fragrance Black tea Strawberry ~ Baked strawberry Apple pie (not burnt) Caramel ~ Maple syrup Cocoa coffee ]: The body is thick Thick and sour flavor and other flavors pineapple apple wheat feeling enhanced hot cake maple syrup This is wonderful

    [Finish]: Powerful in both nose and return! Flavor is also peach, strawberry, lemon and mint. Sweetness of peach and clear sugar.

    A midsummer night's dream. Beautiful.

      Waxiness, hint of nut in the background , nots of tropical fruits and honey. Use a drop of water.  More will come.
    • Taste
      Amazing sweetness, The honeyed element continues  this time with more rich tropical fruits even with the water. Complex.
    • Finish
      Long, fruited and elegant. Take your time with this one. No hurry.

    A very good dram. Just an inch shy of magnificent.

      Slightly greasy, vaguely fruity, with pollen, fresh flowers and corn. Butter that's been on the table a while, A bit of smoke comes out with water. 
    • Taste
      Neat it's a little too nervous for my tastes, but with some water to cut it it settles into its frame better, and what a work of art it is when it does. Waxy, honeyed. Leather bags and faint fruitiness.
    • Finish
      Leaves an oily impression with a little bit of salted liquorice.

    Sweeter on the nose with candied fruits and a little honey. The palate is OK but the oak is coming through just a tad too much for my liking.

    Finish - getting a little bitter but still pleasant.

    Its not complicated, what I would call old school single malt, does the job without fuss but not quite great.

      Smoked meats mixed in with pineapple, kiwi and slight gooseberry notes. There is also rich fruit cake and a very slight woodiness.
    • Taste
      Potent, slightly bitter on the tip of the tongue with sweetness at the back of the palate. There is some fruit, green gauge? There is also caramel wafer.
    • Finish
      Long, quite dry and slightly bitter.

    Nose: Caramel candied apple. White pepper. Cinnamon. A mix of citrus juices (orange, pink grapefruit, tangelo). A touch of wax and oil paint. White flour. Soft white and milk chocolates. Hot cross buns. Vanilla. Moist tobacco and clean soil.

    Palate: Beautiful mature waxy notes with a touch of char. Strong and syrupy. Tart and tangy fruit notes. Very spicy…very chewy. Rich in ginger, ground nutmeg and cinnamon. Just a touch of fennel. More juicy fruit notes, moving into more tropical flavours like tangerine and pineapple. Mouth-coating and delicious. The cask is still singing loudly here, but it’s clean and lovely.

    Thoughts: Bottled at an absolutely gorgeous age and state.

Generally, when I got this before, it is a foolish drinking helper who did not have a record of Whisky or even a photograph.Well, at that time, rather than a whisky enthusiast, rather than a type of alcohol drinking in the course of drinking walking Color: Somewhat, I feel a sign of Crème brûlée, I feel premonition of delicacy rather than gambling Nose: old persimmon and slightly tingling dried fruits Attack: Surprisingly, mikan! Dekopon! Sweet summer Jure! Everyday mood full of fruity shower! Body: A slightly thin featherweight? There was a more metabolic middleweight impression, but the impression has changed.Taste: Juwatto! orange! But, there is a nuance of Japanese-style Grou like Miso tofu, is it like Convalmore?     this one needs some time to open up the flavor. and then it will be better.But I think the recent official 36yo is better than this one! after a head to head tasting!

    Big malt that becomes
    better when adding some water. If you still want to add this to your cabinet,
    you will need to cough up just over 700 EUR.
    • Nose
      The nose is a lot
      more spicy that I would have expected from such an oldie. Nice touches of
      cinnamon, for example. But what stands out from the start is the sweetness on
      malt and butterscotch. Stewed strawberries and peach. Carré confiture. Fruit
      tea. Chocolate shavings, as used on tarts. Very nicely integrated as they say.
      And I am a fan. Adding water is a very good idea, making it more fruity and
      taming it a bit.
    • Taste
      On the palate, after
      the kick to the teeth because of the high ABV, you get a fruity but very woody
      dose of malt. Besides the peach, I also get some juicy pineapple. Curry? But
      add water to it and it simply becomes divinie. A little tropical in fact (add
      mango and papaya to the already present peach and pineapple). The tannins stay
      under controle and it becomes wonderfully fresh as if you have just added a
      leaf of mint.

      The oak becomes
      louder still in the long, warming finish and leaves the mouth dry.

    Nose :
    Very nice aromatic nose, on the apple, with farm notes.

    Evolve quickly on
    fruity notes, especially yellow fruits.

    Then come the
    toffee and spices.

    Very complex.

    At the air
    becomes elegant, chiselled and mineral. In the background always these fruits
    yellow and apple.

    After adding water the
    nose is mineral and citrus notes appear.

    Mouth :
    It's balanced,
    almost austere on leather, citrus in the background and a slight

    Vinous notes
    with spices.

    There is one side
    farmer and a complexity of flavors reminiscent of a Brora.

    Fruity notes of
    Grapefruit and melon in the background, superb.

    After adding water the
    fruity spring, notes of wax and a bit of aspirin
    appears discreetly (a Clynelish?)

    Persistent final
    with a slight astringency.

    Here is a superb
    whisky, complex and rich, not masked by the wood and with which one
    want to stay long.

    In a blind tasting  judge I would estimate this whisky a lot younger.

      Surprisingly sweet and fruity, malt and toffee.
    • Taste
      Very fruity, raisins, dates, with a hint of marzipan.
    • Finish
      A rather long finish, some bitter notes changing to fruity sweetness, unmistakable oak leads to a warm, very pleasant finish.

    The wine is rather discreet, especially on the nose. The whole is good.

      Starting very malty and very sweet, on cooked strawberries, cake and buttered caramel, coffee and cocoa.
    • Taste
      Extremely sweet and quite woody, starting on fruit liqueurs, fruity , apricots, peaches and melons,  tropical fruits ( mangos and passion fruits).
    • Finish
      The finish is rather long, always very fruity, with a little icing sugar.

    This whisky is almost 30yo, but its still very spicy and not as mellow as other whiskies this age.
    • Nose
      Neat: Sweet fruits and lots of lemon. Fruity with a powerful peppery attack. With water: Now even more fruits.
    • Taste
      Neat: Little to much oak, like sucking on a branch. And a hint of cocoa. With water: Now sweet vanilla flavors, and the oak is now tolerable.
    • Finish
      Neat: Long finish, with earthy and oaky flavors. With water: Still long, but the flavors is not as strong.
