- Creamy oily with tropical fruits vanilla and honey, very nice
- Very fruity and exotic for a Bunnahabhain but really good. Fantastic!
Fresh, fruity, honey, tropical fruits, ripe bananas, mango, a rich nuttiness, hints of sherry wood, whiffs of sea air - very good
Punchy, oily, creme brulee, fruity, citrus fruits, cooked oranges, nice sherry wood, good sweetness, some saltiness - great
Long, warm, more nutty, more tropical fruits
- SMWS.at notes:
Eighteen years ago, at the distillery just north of Port Askaig, a hogshead was filled with carefully prepared distillate. Almost a year ago, we found that the whisky was still missing that certain something and turned it into an Oloro barrel. Now the sherry influence lives on in the smell and taste of the intense golden nectar, even if it does not dominate. In the first scent we discovered orange peel, cough syrup, pencil tip waste and a bit of smoke. With water, the sherry and an exotic fruit salad. This malt warms the mouth while being sweet and salty-like dulce sherry and mustbröckli. A very complacent dram, who got his stay in Sherryholz shiny.
