Vraiment sympa !

Nose: Malty, yellow fruits, iodine, some grass and smoke too. With time the fruits turn exotic. A really nice nose.
Mouth: A spicy attack (pepper). Then exotic fruits and smoke all perfectly balanced.
Finish: Long, sweet, midly smoky.

A great Ardmore.

From Serge at whiskyfun.com

Ardmore 1992/2012 (49.9%, The Whiskyman, 'Peat Fighting Man', 146 bottles) Five stars  Colour: white wine. Nose: same whisky as the TSMOS. I’m not saying it’s exactly the same whisky (nor the same cask of course), I’m just saying these two babies are even less distinguishable than the Kessler twins. Mouth: maybe a notch rounder/vanilla-ed, maybe not. Very same-ish for sure! Finish: ditto. Comments: the wonders of consistency. Same pointless comments about stovepipes. SGP:546 - 90 points.

Ardmore 20y 1992/2012 ‘Peat fighting man’, 49.9%, The Whiskyman, 146 bottles
I like. 90/100

From Ruben:

Ardmore 20 yo 1992 ‘Peat fighting man’
(49,9%, The Whiskyman 2012, 146 btl.)

Nose: starts earthy, mineral and slightly sooty but after a while this is nicely balanced by rounder, fruity notes. Seville oranges. The longer you wait, the more it becomes (tropically) fruity, with great papaya / banana notes. Some oils, maybe even a hint of diesel. All very lovely and perfectly integrated. Mouth: very smooth with sweet smoke, peat (subtle peat, think old Ardbeg) and yellow apple. Almonds. After that, there’s clearly a hint of pink grapefruit and again some tropical hints of passion fruit and pineapple. Some coastal notes as well. Very nice. Finish: long, rather sweet again. Almonds and soft smoke.

It seems some of these Ardmores show potential to bring back some old-style Ardbeg / Brora with balanced peat and a nice fruitiness. This one’s my favourite so far, but be sure to give it enough time to unfold its complexity.

I completely agree with Ruben`s tasting notes!

Nose

I am pleasantly surprised with the soft, dry peat on the nose, that plays nicely with the barley and the wood. Soft citrus as well. Vanilla. A little oily with oyster juice. This might as well have been a sweet Coal Ila. Very clean and crispy.

Taste

On the palate, it is again silky soft. The peat is more expressive here, just like the oak (slight bitter touch), with mocha and caramel in the middle of the tongue. Feisty with a salty twist.

Finish

The finish is soft and sweet, which is something of the leitmotif of this <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Ardmore.

Comments

The nose was great, but the palate no less so. For those still in doubt: Ardmore 1992 is top whisky.
