    • Nose
Green wood, unripe fruits, a little dry. It gives a lot of relief, but rounds up is smooth with the opening, even if you lose in expressiveness.
    • Taste
This is expressiveness! Very fluffy! He is finally his age. Woody, fruity (where I distinguish apricot), the spices are there, it's pretty!
    • Finish
What aroma development during the first sip! Everything going up on the volume! In the following sips, there is a nice fruity but on restraint, with a crackling of spices on the other side of the spectrum.

      Enthusiasm

      Mouth and final 4/5

little closed nose, in the beginning bit of glue but that quickly pulled away. honey, heather. Mouth is quite malty, aftertaste too, but reasonably long but not very complex. Does not taste like a very old whisky.

    Delicate
    one, give it time
    • Nose
      A little
timid and soft. Sweet and honeyed barley. Apricots, apple and dried fruit. Also
      a little bit floral.
    • Taste
      Creamy and elegant.
Citrus fruits, like red oranges and grapefruit. Towards the finish it becomes
      more citrus/ tropical fruity tea.
    • Finish
      Still
sweet, more greenish bananas and tea. Dried leaves.

  7. peathead scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

It reminds me a bit of Amrut (ginger + exotic fruit).  If the finish would be longer I'd give it a higher score.
    • Nose
The nose is rather closed at first.  It needs some time and a little bit of water to open up.  Then the hay, wet stone, minerals and some slight fruitiness emerge.
    • Taste
Ginger, exotic fruit, a bit of hay and less minerals than in the nose.
    • Finish
Rather short unfortunately with more ginger and a bit of fruit.

    • Nose
Clean. Sweetish. Pronounced barley sugar. Some sherry.
    • Taste
Medium-bodied. Very smooth indeed. Clean, malty, nutty.
    • Finish
Nice balance of fragrant smoky dryness.

There are quite different facets to discover, without it being a completely ingenious drop.
    • Nose
a bit pungent, hay-like, mossy, malty, even gummy, including figs and chocolate
    • Taste
      spicy, oily, slightly alcoholic
    • Finish
a fruit cocktail, still a bit gummy, vanilla

  12. Jean-Brice scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

A whisky with fairly classic aromas in sum but whose expressiveness I like a lot. Excellent daily dram
    • Nose
Very expressive. At first, I have the impression of sniffing a South West white wine that I drank last week. Many almost exotic fruits. Candied lemon. Bitter oranges. There is a nutty wine side too. Vanilla and frangipane.
    • Taste
Oily, concentrated, well controlled alcoholic power. A lot of wood and touches of candied lemons with a controlled bitterness at the end of the mouth.
    • Finish
      Woody and spicy, almost spicy

  13. Ikkakumon scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

Not very complex, but very pleasant to eat.
    • Nose
Retained at first, opens on fruits (apple, grape, lemon, banana). Herbal notes, cereals.
    • Taste
Extremely sweet and fruity, a little pepper, a lot of caramel.
    • Finish
      Medium, more peppery.

  14. Bishlouk scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

A very good fruity bomb, I like this kind of profile.

    Tasted "blind" under the WDTS.
    • Nose
Yes indeed ! Full of fresh fruit, very greedy! Green apple, citrus fruit, white peach, a little white grape. I really like.
After aeration, pink grapefruit and a light green woody surface.
    • Taste
Super sweet, a sweet on the palate. No aggressiveness, alcohol is well controlled and integrated. In the continuity of the nose: full of sweet fruits. It's summer !
    • Finish
Average. Lemon drops mixed with a general sweetness (I know it's antithetical, but it works!).

Balance, seems a little disjointed between the nose and everything else, but still very balanced ( 22/25).

    A very good whisky!
    • Nose
Fresh fruity nose, green and red apples, and some ripe banana, nice hint of wild flowers, and a malty touch to round it out.  ( 23/25)
    • Taste
A nice touch of pepper, and it is quite oily, with a lot of malt/ cereal flavors.  I was expecting more fruit, but if its there it is well hidden maybe a touch of green apple.  Completely different than the nose but still very enjoyable. ( 22/25)
    • Finish
A lot more pepper, and the green apple resurges as a slightly tart note but balanced with a nice sweet note. Very long lasting, and somewhat reminiscent of a peppery olive oil. ( 23/25)

  17. Sonett scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

nose gives green apples, vanilla, honey and mixed fruits in syrup.

Taste a lot of fruits going to a rather short finish with a tendency towards bitter almonds

  18. MacMenM scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

    nice dram
    • Nose
immediately a walk on a flora - dominated hillside, some green apple hints
    • Taste
      rich fruitiness, custard, hot fruits
    • Finish
      fruity, creamy !

  19. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

N: dry, white wine, toffee, butter, apple, orange and honey - typical Dailuaine

T: kiwi, spicy, creamy pastry and later a bit pepper, caramel and oily

F: lime, cinnamon, spicy, tea and vanilla
Nice whisky, thanks for the sample Whiskybase!

    • Nose
First of: malty, grist/dried barley/cereals, lemon, apricots, barley sugar, cereals, wet tobacco, slightly dusty, some dry oak, touch of smoke, (86)
A bit later: lots of dried barley now, hay, some dry earth, very farmy. (84)
    • Taste
First of: sweet-salty, also bourbon wood spices right next to it, again the dried barley note that was so prominent in the nose, a slight alcoholic edge to it when going into the finish (84)
Later: turns sweeter, but also somewhat artificially so, but looses the alcohol edge from before  (82)
    • Finish
some honey, nice vanilla, some menthol, light raspberry notes at the very end, also, if you give it time there's some very nice hazelnut & more creamy notes coming through (86) especially early on, it's turning quite woody & dry at the very end which I'm not the biggest fan of (80)

  21. markjedi1 scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    This
whisky will not make me a fan of this lesser known distillery, but I can say
that this is good whisky, provided you give it enough time.
    • Nose
The soft nose is rife with grasses and hay, Gyproc (carton and chalk),
heather, vanilla, polishing wax, white bread, yellow apples and a slice of
lime. Dried flowers. Leave it for five minutes and you will get some coffee,
caramel and strawberries. It get sweeter as time passes. For some reason, it
      reminds me of tiramisu.
    • Taste
It is creamy, almost buttery, on the palate and rather spicy on
allspice. The fruit turns a tad bitter, like mandarin and grapefruit. Heather,
again. Grassy. Vanilla custard. Nicely warming. I must say, this is all rather pleasant.
    • Finish
The finish, that remains floral and spicy, lasts quite a bit.

    • Nose
Nose is very sweet, fruity, and fresh. Itâ€
    • Taste
Mouth starts with a very pleasant sweetness, citrus fruits, tangerines. It expands the nose and meets every expectation. In addition to what it starts with it gives some dryness and spiciness with white pepper on top of it.
    • Finish
Long, sweet and fruity, but also warming, a little spicy with some herbs at the end.

  24. QuarterCentury scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

A wonderful well balanced Dailuaine and an absolutely great one! So smooth and pleasant with much honey, sweet ripe fruits (like mandarines & oranges, peaches & apricots...), lots of vanilla, mint and some pepper as well. Long finish, spicy and briny, very nice. Good dram for sure! Thank you whiskybase for the sample...

  25. magic_slim scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Warming, clean and fruity (passion fruit and oranges) with vanilla, mint and grainy components. Nice and pleasant.
    • Taste
Balanced and clean, totally meeting the expectations coming from the nose. Lots of vanilla and tea plus the sweetness of peaches and honey. Some white pepper as well. Very pleasant.
    • Finish
Long with some spicy notes coming up.

The nose is nice malty, with vanilla and some fruits;the taste is oilyish end greasyish, very nice and smooth with honey, apricots, pepper.
