- I think I know why the Pitty comes here so "bad" way. Yesterday, when I dipped my nose in the glass very quickly after pouring, I noticed a very disturbing smell of "fermented cabbage".
Such a blatant bad note I had so far in any whisky!
There were also always the sweet bright red fruits, vanilla, a little oak and as I find a little smoke, but the false note remained ...
I think you could call it sourdough. I was not sure, but I know the smell from the kitchen ...
After 15 minutes, this smell disappeared slowly and after 20 minutes it was completely gone ...
From there, the Pittyvaich was a very fruity, slightly smoky, complex and above all very delicious fellow.
After 20 minutes plus he gets 88 points from me. I think the 90 are in it if I give him more time directly.
- This bottle is one of my longest open. There are good things here, but it feels like they all come from the casks. The spirit just doesn't present itself in an attractive way at all. The short life of this still seems like a tragedy on paper, but it's just so hard to find a good example of it that the decision to close looks comprehensible.
Richly sherried with dark seville orange marmalade, sherbet sweet, but with a real blast of the bottom of the roasting tin. Has a slightly off note to it.
A big hit of fizzy orange and not much else except a musty sour note.
The dry mustiness continues as does the sourness.
- Decent enough but lacking the influence of good spirit. Just a lot of sherry and 45% alcohol. No bad tastes but just too simple.
