Compared to the 2016er Sammlerabfüllungen, the only 3 (blue / Bourbon) or 5 years (red / sherry finish) are older, still a bargain. 15 years is a correct age, where the sherry influence is strong, but not overpowered.
I thought the Tobermory 15 was wonderfully balanced.

  2. rottendon scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

The overall is so consistent, if the spontaneous stimulates me to poetry, which gets 90 points. With a longer finish it might even have become more, the nose alone would get more from me, with so much that is going on. Unfortunately, it has become very expensive, but I think it is worth more than many others. Notes from an online chat tasting
    • Nose
A glass of sherry on a walk through a rainy forest, near a beer brewery. The whole thing must be very exhausting, so there is a hint of salty sweat in the air. Now there was a smooth dumped a barrel of engine oil in the woods? Fortunately, there is still some disinfectant around for cleaning. Now it is (he) warmer and the forest gets a poisonous scent, slightly pungent. But then, behind a clearing, a lake of caramel. An old woman sits on the shore throwing dried herbs into the lake. Time to taste ...
    • Taste
I take a sip from the lake and the caramel spreads dark and oily in my mouth. Somebody tipped Schnapps into the lake, the mouth is gently warmed up. The herbs seem to come from Switzerland, where they are usually pressed into rectangular candies. An old oak tree that stands on the shore has lost a few branches in the last storm, now swimming in the lake. I close my eyes and enjoy while the old woman winks at me ....
    • Finish
While my eyes are still closed, I chew on a leaf of mint, the caramel is quickly remembered, but a few crumbs from the astringent remain something to chew in the mouth, a few herbs have caught between the teeth. Unfortunately, the memory of this beautiful walk is too fast ...

  3. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Spicy, dark sherry, also raisins in the nose, but also dry oak notes, a little dirty. In the mouth then a lot of sherry and a lot of oak. Rather dry and salty, because sweet. The finish then beautiful oak, sherry and tobacco. A very good whisky.

This wonderful Tobermory needs time. At least 20 minutes before nosing. The nose gets better and better. Wonderful sherry notes, smooth palate and long finish.

    • Nose
Deep sherry influence, raisins, winter spice, a touch of oak, light citrus, quite perfumed, floral, with time there is milk chocolate, maybe some cured meat, definitely mint aero.

With water - earthy, more oak, quite fruity(red apple), sweet light smoke.
    • Taste
Sherry, quite oaky, spice, very herbal, meaty, furniture polish.

      With water - beefy,
    • Finish
      Medium/long, quite drying, peppery, spice.

With water - sweeter with a milk chocolate note coming through.

Marzipan and raisins, rum, almost in the nose. On the palate, peppery sweet, very strong with citrus notes. Orange and dark chocolate. Spicy with hot peppers, beautiful maritime notes delight the palate. Pleasantly soft yet strong and spicy with a long finish

oh yes, that's good; So I imagine a tobermory from the sherry barrel; Sweet and spicy and always somehow dark and very balanced; Please more!
    • Nose
slight sulfur and dark fruits (especially cherry); Mon Cherie; dark chocolate and raisins; slightly fleshy; Black bread; Overall, a nice sweet and spicy nose
    • Taste
nice oily and subtly salty; tingles pleasantly on the tongue; sweet sherry and again dark fruits, this time are also berries with it; spicy again
    • Finish
Medium long, very sweet; again Mon Cherie; a potpourri of dark fruits and berries; again this spiciness which is also in nose and taste; a little bit of liquorice

Drinked for the last time over 4 years ago and despite a few hundred whiskys he is remembered as very good - rightly so. Great OA insider tip.
    • Nose
sweet and spicy and a very light sour note, dried fruit, plum jam, sugar beet syrup, compost
    • Taste
intense, bittersweet, molasses and sugar beet syrup, dark chocolate, burnt sugar, slightly peppery and a kick of salt, without water a slightly furry mouthfeel
    • Finish
long and tart, pleasantly bitter-spicy, coffee, tobacco, leather

thanks to u/mullos for mentioning time in the glass. initially not much impressed, but after 10-15 mins, it’s hello gorgeous! Very fragrant on the nose, with white pepper and raisins, big, obvious sherry notes from the good casks.. much simpler on the palate, a pleasant interplay of sweetness and spice, which is absolutely adorable and highly drinkable.. finish falls off quite quickly, but there’s no bitter, so that’s good, too!

  12. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Too bad the mouth didn't deliver what the nose promised, otherwise this would be a great whisky
    • Nose
Nice old sherry meets you, lots of dark fruit, raisins, but also some nuts and dark chocolate, leather, very light furniture polish, mint, marzipan, sweet but dry, really nice and strong, dense and intense, that's somehow different I like the influence of the sherry, which is partly bottled today
    • Taste
Creamy, raisins, sweet, chocolate, dark, some oak, which then gives a dry mouthfeel, slight acidity, I'm missing something here, a bit watery in the mouth, the second sip is better, now also slightly nutty, fizzy, it tingles in acceleration, a little more oak, especially in the middle part
    • Finish
The mouth is a bit coated at the back, green apple, fruit bowl, there is no longer any trace of the sherry, rather short

A gift for a journey through time: a sample of and with Likudi from the bottle, whose wooden box is still used today as a candlestick. From earlier years ... .;)
    Thanks!
    • Nose
Nutty and oily, a brief hint of sulfur, then sherry, raisins and tobacco fill your nose. From the 80s I know these refreshment sticks with a liquid (here: orange) filling, coated in dark chocolate. very nice
    • Taste
Sweet, juicy, full of oranges. Simply delicious

  15. AnnEm scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

What a varied and exciting nose! In some places it is even a little demanding. Muff and this Tobermory / Ledaig filth (the feints are particularly present here for me) you have to like for sure. Fortunately, I do so, so I really like this malt with its very successful classic sherry profile. I find the Oloroso, or at least an oxidatively matured sherry, good in it, even if it is "just" a finish.
    • Nose
      89 89
In addition to a touch of sulfur, it initially looks rancid and properly musty. In addition, there is a concentrated balsamic-sour sweetness. Sun-dried wood is also included, but old-school moldiness predominates. In terms of tracking, it goes well: mead and shoe wax. Tobacco, cowhide. Sweaty cheese feet ... Lots of dried herbs. Chocolate covered bananas. Chestnuts, all kinds of oil seeds, especially macadamia, lightly caramelized. And I also find something earthy.
    • Taste
      88 88
Among other things, sulphurous-herbaceous-animal-rancid he comes up. Nice old wood from the slightly musty cellar. In addition, the thickened sweetness, which appears very tartarous. Grapes, both fruity and slightly bitter. Pleasant alcohol strength.
    • Finish
      88 88
Creamy and melty. Nice interplay between sweet and sour. Here I now have dates and raisins, a nice dry fruitiness. Long chewed hazelnuts, leather and tobacco notes. Yes, I can go with the Oloroso. Pretty, mild wood that stays discreetly in the background, plus red and aromatic black pepper and a little sage.

I have such a bottle in the basement, it comes from my first whisky shopping many years ago. Now I thought to myself, get yourself a sample, then you decide to keep or give it away.
I'll put it this way: I'll keep it!
I like it very much, it reminds me a little of Ben Nevis' inappropriate.
    • Nose
      92 92
First nose without swinging, really fine sherry!

Then becomes even more intense, leather, orange, nutty (wamnut), earthy, moist moss, a hint of caramel, wet wooden planks, sleepers on railroad tracks, tobacco.
As an overall impression, it also has something slightly musty, dusty ... but very pleasant. From the nose, I would blindly estimate him to be over 25 years old.
Now add some wax, the fruits are more dried, a little cheese with pears.
    • Taste
      89 89
In the mouth, I don't like it so much straight away. Has a bit of vomit or sweaty socks. Fortunately, that quickly disappears. The oak then becomes dominant, it becomes significantly dry.
The complexity of the nose does not continue 1: 1 in the mouth, the herbal notes and wood influences dominate, slightly mineral, exciting!
    • Finish
      88 88
The finish is medium long, very pleasant, as the bitterness gives way to a nutty sweetness, dry, fine.

    • Taste
      93 93
Continuation of the aroma: sweet, viscous, slightly tart, slightly spicy. In the background is light smoke, a little salt and an oily taste.
    • Finish
      93 93
Long, difficult. Fruit, bonfire, leather, oak barrel

    [Color] mahogany;
Not dyed, not cool filtered, horny drinking strength!
    • Nose
      intense nose: raisins, "old" sherry, nuts, very fine smoke (?), spices, wood, oak;
    • Taste
      harmonious, intense, ripe fruit, raisins, juicy oranges, sherry, sweetness, caramel, chocolate, full oak, salt, complex;
    • Finish
      long, voluminous, sweet then coffee and tobacco, fading dry;

    Aroma / Nose feeling:
A very harmonious scent rises in the nose and flatters the olfactory organ. Sweetness and fruit inspire right at the beginning. Hazelnuts and orange (-nschale), vanilla and cereals - a fragrant potpourri has collected here in my glass. Over time, however, the wood also makes itself felt by the pleasure receives a slightly tart and bitter note. The aroma is constantly accompanied by a mineral touch.

    Taste / mouthfeel:
The scotch runs full and creamy over the tongue. Melted nougat predominates at the beginning. The further the malt runs back towards the throat, the more the spiciness comes into its own. Tannins have done their job. The ever-bitter wood beats hard (do not misunderstand - it's all in the frame) and is flanked by pepper and cinnamon. The longer the Tobermory remains in the mouth, the less the sweet fruit from the finish plays a role.

    Finish / aftertaste / Length:
The medium to long finish combines the slight bitterness and sweetness in harmony and gives the wood the spicy goodbye. The lively tingle on the tongue also remains when you try to relish.

    Overall impression / comment:
This single malt has a wonderful nose. I could smell it for hours. Unfortunately, he loses in my opinion on the journey over the taste to the taste of harmony. My individual rating is between 83 and 93 points. So I'm torn, but the nose and the first impressions of the tasting are just wonderful. Overall, I must acknowledge that the Malt has character. At any rate, you can not blame him for being soft-washed or uninteresting.
Diluted to 43% ABV, the malt is a little more balanced. But not necessarily worth mentioning. Unfortunately, I do not smell and taste smoke. Be supposed to exist yes ...
So who sweet, creamy, slightly fruity single malts, but not overwhelming, one of his favorites is right here - provided the diligent work of tannins do not deter.

Wow, what a start for 46%, hammer flavor mix!
    • Nose
Leather, peat smoke, somewhere sherry behind, orange, algae, figs, very own mixture of sea and fruit
    • Taste
Very strong sherry & berries with salt and pepper, then oak, chocolate, some smoke, full-bodied like anything else
    • Finish
Oak, sea salt discreet, warm, long

A very delicious sherry whisky. The 15 years in the barrel were just right.
    • Nose
Sherry, red fruits, molasses, pepper, a little peach, smoke, bitter almond, hazelnut, sulfur
    • Taste
Oak, sherry, smoke, pepper, red fruits, cloves, nutmeg
    • Finish
      Medium long and spicy

  23. Speedo scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

Again, such a beautiful, tasty malt, which is really impressive for his 15 years.
    • Nose
Thick, sweet sherry right at the beginning, then chocolate raisins, hazelnut chocolate, caramel and in the background this old, leathery note and some oak.
    • Taste
As you can guess at the Verriechen, he shows in the mouth nice creamy, oily and full. However, the sweetness is not as strong as you might think. The chocolate now gives way to impressions that are bitter and slightly bitter. Cocoa powder, coffee, oak and a hint of light alcohol are revealed here.
    • Finish
Long and warm. If you want to talk about the influence of alcohol at all, then it shows here in a light Pfeffrigkeit before the bitter chocolate comes through. Finally, spicy and maritime nuances remain.

  24. Othorion scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Nose: Full sherry load, heavy, dark, raisins, plums, rum, leather, salty sea air, spice, some cinnamon, a hint of nuts, hm, awesome, and that gets better, the longer it stands and the more you smell, the more you will find. Taste: Coffee, dark chocolate, a peppery warmth fills the mouth, clove, cinnamon, lots of salivation, a little creamy and slightly fruity sweetness comes, then again spicy, bitter oak Finish: long, warming, oak, coffee, dark chocolate, black pepper Great sherry cask whisky, a bit pricey for 15 years, but that was clearly good barrels. Smells and tastes much older than the classic 15 year old in my eyes. At Glengoyne 21 and Glendronach Parliament he does not quite (but almost) ran, so I get 88 points.

Spicy Sherry at first, followed by light peat. Pretty unusual nose. Floral and earthy with some sea salt and herbs. Rich oak as well. Underlined by a peppery note. Beautiful!
    • Taste
Pungent start, quite some alcohol and pepper. Little sweetness and quite some fruitiness. Blood oranges, figs, dried apricots. Then the oak kicks in. Mokka, coffee beans, chocolate, fudge. Really spicy and complex. Very powerful!
    • Finish
Long finish with little peat and a touch of salt. Lots of oak and bitter chocolate. Really well balanced!

It's 15 years old but I believe there is a lot of older sherry casks in this dram. Better without water in my opinion but after 45-60 minutes in the glass (with water) it improves again. I'm impressed with this one and only dram. Have to buy myself a bottle.

    (Rating interval 86-90p)
    • Nose
Woody allspice, carnation, nutmeg, assorted nuts, cigarr box. Lot of spices and dried dark fruits.
    • Taste
Again wood, balanced wood, artificial raspberry flavored candy, lemon drops, creamy butterscotch and milk chocolate. With water, more butterscotch, muscovado sugar, bitter oak and black pepper.
    • Finish
Long and creamy, there dark fruits are there with spices and fudge, however not as sweet but more dry. With water, massive black pepper.

    • Nose
a rich sherry nose with a quick reminder of Bebogeen (a caramel paste, used as spread). More sweet things come by: toffee, fudge and chocolate.
    • Taste
lovely sweetness on the palate with an oaky crispiness leading to a more drying, nutty taste on the back of the tongue.
    • Finish
a nutty, spicy and quite peppery finish.

????: dark gold, light brown, slightly ruby red
????: delicate, plum-chocolate, calm, very laid-back, slightly cellar, raisins, dried plum, lots of sherry, lots of chocolate, smooth, feel little power, but hang gliding and quite intense, slightly windy, unfortunately does not develop after adding water

Smooth, delicate, but even intense sherrówka, chocolate plum, a big plus for the nose! It looks a bit like an old man! After I got a sample from that, I bought it. Even if he was not exactly cheap for the age. At that time the sample inspired me. There was a lot of leather, orange and clove in the taste. Strangely enough, the big bottle could not quite keep it that way. This too has benefited from the oxidation and has always gotten better. At the end (bottle opened about 1 year ago) he had these notes, but only hinted. He has already tasted. Just not quite as I imagined it.

    A very nice single malt, although standard range and too expensive he absolutely likes to please;
    • Nose
      Dirty, the classic Tobermory "farmy-style" very thick! Sulfur, shoe polish, leather, oily; also pretty fruity behind all the crass aromas: dates and figs;
    • Taste
Spicy and almost spicy (at only 46.3%), dirty, oily, fruity and simply unmistakable: the cowshed! And a subtle spiciness, cardamom?

    Colour: Amber

    Body: Medium/Full

Nose: Rich and sticky Sherry. A little of the butteriness I find in Ledaig- Butter, rich toffee, clotted cream and vanilla fudge. A little 'off' sour cherry and a cakey note- Birthday cake (Icing and sponge cake). Not much dried fruit sherry notes, more- figs, orange marmalade and cherry stones and flesh.

Water: Bitter orange marmalade, a little salty chocolate, blown out birthday candles (from the cake), slight hint of smoke. Orange peel, clove and eventually a little wood smoke and pancakes.

Taste: Big, rich, a swelling sherried sweetness with loads of raisin, dates, but more fig drenched in fresh sweet PX-esque sherry, fruit cake. The spices are rich and tingling with the oak joining them. Some coffee and cheap dark chocolate into the finish. Some salt here too.

Water: Much creamier arrival, steady sweet development then a sherried coffee/oak hit! Very nice. Then the 'off' sour sherry note becomes apparent.

Finish: Medium length. Creamy coffee and some sea salt chocolate with a delicate sweetness in the background.

I really wanted to like this but truth be told it doesn't quite work for me. A shame, because I know that the peated stuff is fantastic.

However, there seem to be 2 versions of this bottling! One with very good reviews and a collectors version with reviews similar to mine, that came with a vintage postcard and wrapped in a paper.

    Nose:-
Fresh herby peat rising, bring along cooling mist and pineapple citrusy
sharpness, touch of mineral and lots saltiness behind it, feinty as it
should be. Quite closed and stiff. Open up with sweet custard and
    anglaise.

    Palate:- Grassy and
briney. Dry mouthfeel of citrus fruits, sourness overdo the touches of
faint sweetness of burnt honey. However, still well rounded overall.

Finish:- Medium-long finish with highlight on traces of bitter earthy notes. Echoing and dry. Refine spiciness.

    • Nose
Softcake-> orange and chocolate, slightly earthy, zero alcohol noticeable, minimal leather, sweet cocoa and inasmuch as it is palpable: very creamy, after the second sip a light sea breeze perceptible
    • Taste
Tobacco, leather, creamy-caramel sweetness, a hint of smoke and a touch of pepper

A very decent dram, especially at the original price.
    • Nose
Gentle sherry aromas, fruity notes of raisins, dates, fudge, marzipan, toffee and caramel. Rounded, sweet and warm.
    • Taste
Mild, nicely rounded and sweet. Notes of caramel, toffee and marzipan dominate, it's very much like sweets, but the fruitiness of the notes does not follow on the palate. Milk chocolate and vanilla.
    • Finish
Sweet, medium long, toffee, oranges and some spices.

I did not expect to like this as much as I do. It's nice to be surprised.
    • Nose
It shows an unmistakable sherry influence with dried fruits (raisins, figs, dates). A nice amount of licorice too. It is slightly vegetal, and there are traces of cactus sap. There's a subtle sourness not completely to my liking.
    • Taste
Pretty savory. Powdered coffee. A tad drying and some mild spices as well. Cinnamon and pepper. But there's also a distinct orange-y note to this, as well as figs. Fairly creamy mouthfeel.
    • Finish
A slight bitterness too it. Espresso and dark chocolate. Pinch of salt. Medium in length.

There is no significant note or aroma - no smoke or peat, no fruits, but just some oily smooth oak wood. It's just pleasant to drink.

Nice sherry bomb, the sherry is very intense and dominant. Solid malt with maturity, although the current price (100 € +) is too high.

At the first tasting of X. degu BR, I scored 85 points. But at home, without competition, in peace, I enjoyed even more. Have this bottle at home, I think I would love her a lot. And that beautiful wooden box with a carved relief looks great. So thanks to Nethar for the taste of this exciting whisky.
    • Nose
Very odd, unusual scent. There is sharpness, woody dullness, sharper spice, but also peppermint freshness and moments as well as greasy acidity, which together makes an interesting mix. (87 b)
    • Taste
Spicy, while acting matures. Orange, milk chocolate, sherry, cinnamon. In the flavor of pepper, stiffly spicy, with a distinctive sherry veil. (87 b)

    • Nose
warm fruit and candied fruit, caramel sweetness and salt, wild herbs, a little maritime with grass cuttings and pipe tobacco; In the background a memory of chlorinated water floats in the background, but it fades with time, but then the whisky is also much lighter and thinner

The Isle of Mull?s only distillery has a heritage dating back to 1798, but as
noted on the site last month in relation to Ledaig, it has endured a decidedly
chequered history. Now, under the ownership of Burn Stewart Distillers, the
brand?s rehabilitation continues with the release of a 15-year-old expression.
Attractively presented in an oak gift box, with a limited edition print of
Tobermory Bay, according to its distillers, ?Each drop of this rare and
un-chill-filtered limited malt has been perfected using a
dual-location-maturation: first transferring the spirit into gloriously refined
Gonz?lez Byass Oloroso Sherry casks and then moving each cask from the mainland,
where the whisky develops, back to the island for its final undisturbed year.?
The rich nose offers fruit pudding with Sherry, spicy milk chocolate and a whiff
of peat smoke. The Sherry dries nicely with exposure to air. Full-bodied in the
mouth, with well-mannered Sherry, Christmas cake, toffee and a sprinkling of
pepper. The finish is long and luxurious, with chocolate-coated raisins. Proof
that Tobermory can be a seriously good dram, and more than just a brand
apparently on perpetual special offer in certain supermarkets. Delicious!

    Colour: Old gold-amber.
Nose: Clean to very clean, earthy, with a very fresh
sherry nose, on humus, orange, toffee, fudge and treacle, with rubbery
    notes.
Taste: Rubbery, clean, malty, slightly on cardboard, with some sugary
notes and a hint of salt. Diluted, it becomes more rubbery and chewy. The finish
is short to medium, clean, round, rubbery and on orange.
    General Impression:
As of now, the Tobermory 10 YO is discontinued and will be replaced by limited
editions of Tobermory in the future. This bottling will be marketed in the next
few weeks. This first limited edition offers more complexity than the “old”
Tobermory 10 YO, and a good dose of sherry (including fresh rubbery notes). The
new packaging (and box) is very attractive.

the nose opens with a bitter, dry-spicy and slightly acidic cereal note (I already have another Tobermory), maritime, salty notes, sweet sherry, strong oak, subtle some smoke. Definitely not on the sweet side, this malt. Tobacco, hops, rye, sherry sweetness and vinous mouthfeel, very dry, intense. The second nose is different, oranges, vanilla, refreshing towel, cinnamon, some anise, is fruity with water, but then in the mouth, as if you were licking an ice stalk. Just no water in!
