A very nice old bottling. The content is not too old, but still very good. At first you don't think you have a Bowmore in your glass. The smoke covenant of the distillery character only come after a long breath. A cup of espresso in the finish.

If not for the restrained aroma and excessive oakness at all stages, a very cool whisky would come out. A little preconceived notions. He needs to be given time.
    • Nose
Fresh, malt, smoked, mineral, earthy, a glass of ice cream, salted lard, burnt wood, dust. Squeezed, restrained, it is necessary to make the way to the essence. Donut with garlic, too much oak, too, dried fruit, jam, dates, raisins, dried meat, green plum, herbaceous, lime with salt, sorrel, livestock, smoked duck, juniper, condensed milk, radish, barberry , bacon.
    • Taste
Dry, ash, pepper, sweet and salty at the same time, meat sauce, citrus, ash, chocolate.
    • Finish
Warms, noticeably oak, sweet and pepper, at the same time juicy salty, ash, dries, meat, long.

Strongly different from the new version of CS for the better by all components, deeper, denser, harder and more noble, these are the CS releases we need, when comparing with this mole, I want to throw 3-4 points from the new version.
    • Nose
Calm, damp, impregnated with stain wood, some raw sawdust and wood dust, shavings from koh-i-nor pencils, window putty, light notes of smoked fish with a scent, toffee, boiled condensed milk, lemon notes, faint smoke, deep enough saturated.
    • Taste
Thick and deep, spicy oak in many shades, lemon pepper, lemon, sweetness, creamy notes, a little carpentry and solvent, dry and astringent coal-ash colors, complex and multifaceted.
    • Finish
Continuation and development of taste, spicy soft oak, light pepper, orange peel, lollipops, light apple-oxalic acid.

A very nice Bowmore, can drink wonderful undiluted. Great combination of sweetness and smoke.
    • Nose
A candied apple that has spent a little while in a smokehouse. The smoke is light and tender. Add chocolate. In the background sea salt, some kelp. Nice combination of sweetness, smoke and sea flavors.
    • Taste
Nice chocolate notes. Full and creamy at the start. The smoke comes quickly and makes a nice connection with the chocolate notes. With some fruit, maybe cherries. Mild seasoning, black pepper. Remains oily for a long time.
    • Finish
Malty and fruity-sweet with cool smoke in the long finish.

    This is a delicious malt!
    I like it.
    • Nose
Citrus aroma (lemons, oranges), subtle smokiness, raisins, crème brûlée, sweet, salty
    • Taste
sweet ash, maritime salty, red fruits, orange, nice bitterness
    • Finish
long, fruity sweetness, ashes, dry salty, dark chocolate

Mjam, that was delicious, 40 € at that time. The new 100 ° is not bad either, but this one was better. More sherry keg, the smoke is tastier, sweeter.
    • Nose
Lemon and salt leap into the nose, with raisins, oranges, cotton candy, the smoke is very well integrated, is more in the direction of burnt sugar, flambé fruit pudding
    • Taste
nice sweet camp fire smoke, dark chocolate with blood oranges, some pepper
    • Finish
long, dry, peppery, dark chocolate and very long grilled roasted sausage

  18. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A great whisky from days gone by.
    • Nose
You can feel the cask strength, very fresh in the nose, tingling sherry, red fruits, caramel, cocoa, a bit alcoholic
    • Taste
Beautiful sherry cargo, plus dry smoke, which is a good combination with the sweet sherry, the alcohol transports the taste quite well, but may do a droplet quite well, some salt, quite fruity
    • Finish
Horrible at the back, always not fruity, but sour and dry, the smoke is floating above everything

Unmistakably Bowmore! The salty sea aroma, the sweet fruit aroma and the pleasant pepper or chili sharpness harmonize perfectly. A fine "old" Bowmore, delicious!
    • Nose
Pale copper with an orange stitch. The drops stick to the glass wall for a long time. Salty sea air flows through my nose. Fine smoke mixes with lemon juice and orange flavor. Peach and sweet vanilla play together. The alcohol is beautifully integrated and harmonize with the scent of the sea and the sweet fruit.
    • Taste
Salt and smoke dominate the first impression. Fruity sweetness flashes and ends in a fine bitter pungency triggered by a pinch of pepper. After adding a little water a pleasant salty but fruity mouthfeel arises. Orange again, this time slightly greasy with a hint of campfire.
    • Finish
Despite the addition of water, the finish is pleasantly salty. Fruity results in a fine woody aroma. Subtle smoke fills warm and long-lasting the palate. Light pepper and slightly bitter wood never want to end. At the end a touch of nut.

dangerous whisky, one can drink a lot of it
    • Nose
Nice gentle peaty nose - burned rubber, exhaust fumes,
sweet layer beneath - mango, apricot,
      Water - calms the peaty side, mild vanilla sweetness, honey, hint of farm yard;
    • Taste
very sweet arrival, quick alcohol bite, nice peat from the middle to the back, sweetness again.
Water - the sweetness is a bit subdued; the peaty side is glorious - so mild yet so prominent. a new bitter side emerges (bitter oranges) - very well integrated.
    • Finish
short, sweet and lovely peat, ginger spiciness,
water - same more or less.

Compared to the bottlings I've tasted from Bowmore lately, both CS had a noticeable amount of smoke. No smoke monsters, but clearly noticeable.
    • Nose
Smoke, lemon, sea, wet sand and apricot
    • Taste
The taste is repeated from the nose.
a huge sweetness spreads and smoked apricots

For a strong, very sweet whisky (yummy) Of the 56% you only notice something in the nose and the taste is light and sweet! Conclusion: I love the strengths and I like to add them to my list of good ones!

  31. slothmister scored this whisky 76 points Member Senior

A little too strong and not as good as the 12yo but still a great whisky.Typical Bowmore taste, smoke smoke and more smoke but not overpowering. Too strong for a regular dram, imo go with the excellent 12yo.
