Very tasty and pretty ripe for his age.
    • Nose
Sweet and intensely scented with ripe fruits such as mirabelles, apricots and bananas. You can also find malted barley, yeast, walnut oil and sherry notes. Despite his youth, there is already a lot of wood to feel, which is well integrated. Later, even floral perfume notes appear.
    • Taste
Very mouth-filling, hot and salty with a full body. Kribbelt nice on the tongue with subtle sweetness. Coffee notes mate with exotic fruits and some perfume. The wood holds back here, accompanied easily and pleasantly the taste.
    • Finish
Bitter sweet, roasted barley, vanilla and light fruit notes at average length.

Only after the third or so dram (in a period of about two months) I scented it, and strongly so! Memories of my youth, when we boys played cowboy with our toy cap guns...It's the gunpowder mentioned in their review by WhiskyNotes! Strange that I didn't note it with the first drams, and that it now is so very obvious. That's one of the joys of drinking whisky: it keeps surprising you.

A little rough around the edges with strong herbal flavours, faint winey notes and gunpowder. An adventurous mix. Not the best Macduff 2000 we've seen lately (there were so many) and I liked the sister cask better.
    • Nose
It's the gunpowder / unlit matchstick note that strikes me first. Then a mossy, earthy hint of forests after the rain. Brighter notes of honey, orange marmalade and raisins. Quite attractive if you don't mind the gunpowder.
    • Taste
Lots of berry notes and grapes before the spices come rolling in: ginger and liquorice. Some herbs. Still some gunpowder notes - hints of smoke as well. Strangely winey with a sour / bitter combo that's not very refined.
    • Finish
Long, herbal and still slightly bitter. Cloves and dark chocolate.

Rather weird. mouldy forest floor, sweet honey, liquorice, hamster piss, peat, chocolate, lemon. Add a bit of water does some good. Very weired, very complexe. I quite love it.
