Whisky Reviews for Braeval 11-year-old DL

  1. Albaron scored this whisky 84 points Specialist

A bourbon whisky, quite delicious, a hint of pepper, but from the second sip is no longer significant. The tannins are quite strong.

Notes created during a blind tasting
    • Nose
Some alcohol and solvents, but tweaks right in the nose, vanilla, menthol and citrus notes, as well as a few herbs
    • Taste
Strong start, but then also vanilla, honey, menthol some citrus notes, herbs and in between always pepper
    • Finish
the vanilla stays for a long time, the menthol disappears and the pepper and tannins emerge from the oak, which stay long next to the vanilla. A touch of honey still floats.

  2. aprager scored this whisky 85 points Expert Junior

Strangely no real sherry notes apart from the nose. Still a very nice example of Braeval
    • Nose
A bit of sherry, malt (Werther Originals) and citrus. With water lemon zest some spices and cut grass
    • Taste
Lemon ice cream, barley, fudge with a bitter note at the end. With water it becomes sweeter and the bitter note goes away. Also some chocolate and nuts.
    • Finish
Shortish with some bitter note which goes away with water
