Whisky Reviews for Glen Elgin 1975 MoS

- Lovely stuff.
Smells coastal to me, reminds me of Caol Ila, I wonder how much peat is in here?
Brine also, its like Caol Ila light?
Some fruit mixed in with a touch of paraffin, lemon, honey and dark orange marmalade.
Spicy and powerful for around 47%, it is also creamy, lovely mouthful.
Peaches and cream, apricot and some candied sweetness. Very faint peat, less than the nose suggested.
Medium length on a juicy sweetness.
- An excellent Speysider, totally in line with earlier Glen Elgin 1975. Plenty of fruits and herbs. Exactly 50% of what a full bottle would cost so here's an opportunity to experience this profile without breaking the bank.
Great profile, very polished. Lots of furniture polish really. It takes a while to open up. Then it shows subdued yet elegant fruits (melon, yellow apple) and honey. There's a soft herbal side to it as well: mint, heather and chamomile.
Gentle and fruity at first (pear, citrus, apricot) but quickly gaining spiciness (pepper, liquorice). Some waxy notes and a little oak resin, sure.
Long, still pretty fruity with hints of herbal tea.
