Whisky Reviews for Inverleven 1969 CA

- Doesn't smell and taste like a Single Malt. Very good stuff nonetheless.
- Because the label states that this whisky is distilled in the Inverleven stills, it's probably not Dumbarton single grain whisky but single malt from the same distilling complex. A very nice surprise. In general Inverleven used to be good a distillate in my view. Most of them in my book are rated high.
The nose starts with lots of stewed fruits of figs and dates. A little balsamico vinegar. Hints of sweet vanilla and honey notes usually found in American bourbon whisky. Custard powder. Later on more earthy notes. Pipe Tobacco and cigar boxes. There's a lot to discover.
Now more on raisins and sappy oak. Prunes as well. But also strawberries and cranberries. Kirsch liqueur. Sandalwood, Raspberry jelly. Some roasted almonds. Espresso coffee and dark mint chocolate (After Eight). Pine at the background.
Long and warming. A little nurmeg. Cinnamon. Mint at the end. Complex. Well balanced
