  1. Rom did not rate this whisky Expert Junior

Peat brings rubber to the nose, dust (old books), pineapple, purple tip. Superb powerful mouth without aggressiveness, lurking slightly sweet attack where the influence of the drum harmoniously combines with the distillate characteristic of Laphroaig by gratifying just enough of astringency and spices. Alcohol is very well integrated. Very long and soft finish that becomes grassy on the end. Excellent.

    http://www.weinkenner.de/2014/laphroaig-von-van-wees-und-the-queen-of-the-moorlands-32557/ Color: full gold
Nose: sweet sherry and dark fruits, enriched with delicious honey. Lime juice, salty peat smoke, charred barrels and charcoal and earthy notes, incorporated in powerful alcohol.
Taste: Mighty sweetness of sherry and honey (if at all, then very little fruit sweetness), maritime notes in creamy vanilla with well integrated oak wood. The strong peat smoke is always present.
Finish: Long - peat and smoke is now even more apparent. Slightly bitter with more intense woody notes of toasted barrels. With a lot of salt and black pepper, dry-peaty finish.
    89 points (nose: 90 / taste: 89 / finish: 88)

  3. Ivynor scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

An excellent Laphroaig sherry, a pity that prices have exploded.
    • Nose
Peat, iodine, candied citrus, caramel, dried fruit. A lot of perfume and a super alliance between sherry and peat
    • Taste
Alcohol very well integrated, always peat sherry harmony: plants, caramel, dried fruit, smoke ... rather oily texture but more "dry oloroso"
    • Finish
Peat, plants, sherry. The finish is superb, very long, very aromatic.

  4. Malt Hans scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Nutty and tary aroma, juniper berries,

vanilla, ripe orange, raisins, toffee, pepper malt and figs. Marzipan

sweet and smoky taste, horseradish, mint, ginger, orange marmalade,

anise, vanilla, banana and peated malt. Long, smoky, spicy and malty

    end.

Another excellent young Laphroaig, without much surprise but very well done. more sherry than the 1999 daily dram, and less mineral and austere.
    • Nose
A little time to open up then it becomes fantastic: a surprising mix of peat, iodine, camphor, grilled bacon with candied oranges and almonds.
    • Taste
A drop of water can open a little more but the 61.5% pass very well, alcohol is perfectly integrated. Same aromas as the nose, slightly dry texture.
    • Finish
very long, on the medicinal peat of Laphroaig.
