  1. YonWhisky scored this whisky 100 points Newbie

    Excellent stuff

  2. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 60 points Connoisseur

He has very bad grades. And it does not work that way. Grill lighter and aroma balls in the nose, beer in the mouth and some oak coconut on the finish.

  3. Allandale scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    A light thin body.
    • Nose
      Sandalwood, warm hay.
    • Taste
Green. Pistachio nuts. Sugared almonds. Intense sweetness.
    • Finish
      Gritty. Abrasive.

  4. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

Phew, difficult to judge that anyone gets over 85 or even 90 is definitely a mystery to me, but he is not bad either, only as nothing that one associates with the year, rather with the otherwise bad reputation of the distillery.
    • Nose
First, directly extreme hay, fine and sweet, with the sweetness is also a little green apple, marzipan, hints of banana jelly far in the background and fresh bread, some fresh marshmallows
    • Taste
And again extreme hay first, very bitter-dry in the first few seconds, already uncomfortable, you have to give him 5-10 seconds in his mouth until it goes over at all into nicer flavors, fresh bread crust, grasses, lavender, fresh Earl Gray tea , slightly brown sugar, with the time already nice
    • Finish
Citrus peels, bitter, medium-long, fermented apples a little with shell, light malt

[January, 2013]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 104 Euro in February, 2012.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored this 82,5.  My notes state extremely heavy wooden notes that turn the whole dram bitter and hard to enjoy.  This whisky clearly is over the edge - it should have been bottled ten years earlier (or even more)...

Few of ABV and not enough exposure to the barrel, but here is a rather pleasant, strange palette
    • Nose
      87 87
Wow! Wet grass, freshly cut flowers, unripe peach, boat varnish, horseradish, cucumber, glue and new leather shoes
    • Taste
      87 87
Too easy, grainy character: spicy, big fruits: pineapple, peach and mango
    • Finish
      86 86
Medium length, they are some confusing things, but if pass away a beautiful antique wood comes.

Considering this has been in a cask for 45 years I do not see much cask influence, it is very light and tastes like an older quality blend.

Its decent for sure but it would have been much better at 48%+.

Whatever the distillery profile is of Loch Lomand it is not very evident on this one.

This for me is a novelty whisky to try, something out the ordinary etc.
    • Nose
Pineapple chunks, cheap white wine, white wine vinegar, wet grass, cut flower stalks like when you trim down flower stalks for a vase.

After a while there is some peach and notes of either paint or polish, one of the two.
    • Taste
That is really strange to me, its very light but also some bitterness from the cask. It reminds me of the old white horse blends from the 40`s & 50`s.

Fresh pineapple, peaches, shredded wheat and a slight metallic taste.
    • Finish
Not that long, fades a little quick.

  9. DeLiCiouS scored this whisky 91 points Expert Junior

a very special malt with a profile out of the ordinary!
    • Nose
have you ever played soccer on a cart track? Fresh cut gras and cart exhaust and burned tires with rubber marks
    • Taste
also some gras with turpentine at a campfire... in CS we would have an explosion, so we have a shy scramle... in the aftertaste teeish (green/herbal)
    • Finish
is short to medium and you have to like this unpleasent turpentine or paint notes, they are perfekt involved in some nice old wood and polish notes.
