Whisky Reviews for Glen Elgin 1992 MBl

  1. lachaineduwhisky did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

Powerful with fresh fruits. Green apple, peach but also a little mint. The past fruits, it remains a spicy side, the American oak shines sometimes evoking a bourbon with a touch of cherry. On the palate, less greedy than expected, only the malt remains. Spicy finish. With a little water, the mouth grows smoother - without reaching the peaks, vanilla emerges quite clearly. I find it lacks amplitude and roundness, especially for this age.

    Enthusiasm 3/5

Glen Elgin always stays good. Excels in subtlety. You can taste the typical Glen Elgin granite. Everything is in this whisky but is especially sweet (honey) and fruity / floral.

  3. hartist scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

A dilemma that assign a note: 87 for the nose and mouth but the finish really goes through a too weak phase. It will be 85.
    • Nose
Rich and greedy. It starts with a crushed ripe fruit from the orchard (peaches, apricots, mirabelle plums, yellow plums) and exotic fruits (mangoes and pineapple) sprinkled with rich spices (cardamom, cinnamon, hint of vanilla) and a little honey. heather, then goes on with malty notes (hot brioche, cereals) and goes through more grassy and floral notes that bring a little freshness and elegance.
    • Taste
The palate is creamy and suave. A wave of fruits become more cooked and melted (cooked wine trend), sweeter, tinged with hot and fragrant spices (badiane and more) while filigree more astringent grassy notes moderate this relative exuberance.
    • Finish
The pleasure felt in the mouth fades a little too quickly (as washed out), leaving a pleasant sensation of warmth sweet, fruity, spicy and grassy, almost ashy. Pity!.
