A rather young country-style malt. Not unpleasant, but I don’t feel very comfortable with the final bitterness.

    Tasted blind for whisky-distilleries.info WDTS:http://www.whisky-distilleries.info/WhiskyWDTS/index_EN.shtml
    • Nose
Young and full of freshness. Freshly picked up orchard fruits. Apples and pears. Flawless, but nothing different so far from the flow of releases from the same category. Then, evolves on something really creamy. Becomes as soft as a white chocolate bar. Interesting. Let’s wait a little more. Now we have all kind of roots arising. Gentian for the light bitterness (do you know Suze?) and liquorice to bring a little roundness. Soft and lemony flavor of crumpled bee-balm. Something quite “bladnochean” as to say… And a low ABV (43%?) that does the job.
    • Taste
Starts on the same fruity freshness and delicate vanilla. A bit all-purpose, but rather enjoyable. The low ABV is still fully exploited. Fresh melon and nice honeyed notes, but bitterness and astringency grow.
    • Finish
Long, sustained by the bitterness and the astringency of a grapefruit skin.

  4. Ruud6421 scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Waxy, paraffin, friendly. Some Citrus fruit and banana and cocos. Quite nice.
    • Taste
Hot Attack. Nervous, very tingly. Difficult. When you get through this you get back to the wax. Almost no fruit left. It is a bit creamy, which is nice. Also a lot of pepper!
    • Finish
Quite long, but not the nicest of aftertastes. Pepper is dominant.

    • Nose
Fine peat, lemon, a little smoke, a medicinal background. Round & elegant
    • Taste
Powerful and pleasant. In the continuity of the nose.
    • Finish
      Long

The is a very quaffable, good, no nonsense Clynelish. Around 50 EUR.
Maltman has a couple of other whiskies out there as well.
    • Nose
The waxy nose is dominated by honey, lime peel, pears and unripe plums. A
very small pinch of pepper and some celery salt. Very approachable. A small
amount of vanilla and caramel. Some smoke in the background. Appealing.
    • Taste
It is slightly creamy at the onset, heavily spiced and warming. Citrus
and honey take a head started, spices and aromas from the sea are lagging behind.
It gets pretty smoky, when swirled around in the mouth.
    • Finish
The finish is medium long, remains smoky and focuses on honey.
