Whisky Reviews for Lochside 1979 DL

2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.23 points

A mixture of gentle fruity notes (apricot, mango, apple and lemon) and 'industrial' elements (engine oil and a metallic edge) vie for your attention on the nose. It's all rather restrained though and lacking a bit in vibrancy. Rather more sharp on the palate, with the zesty lemon and metallic edge to the fore. Slightly dry and bitter finish, but it just about keeps its balance in the end. Certainly an 'old' whisky profile, far removed from the current style. It's very enjoyable to spend some time with (particularly the old school nose) and it's nice to taste liquid history. However, not a 'superstar' malt in my book.
