with water: marshmallow sweetness but drowns out the complexity and flavor + oyster at the back (WOW!!! +1 for that, my first time tasting oysters in whisky)

notes: nice, like talisker, will definitely fool you as a single malt because the flavors are full and lively

worth its score only if you can get it at US$40 or less, any more than that it becomes overrated like the blue label and not worth it (deduct 1 point for every US$5 you will overpay)
    • Nose
aromatic sweet talisker-ish earth, smoke and musky sweet grain
    • Taste
sweet, smoke, red apples , alcohol, full flavor
    • Finish
short-medium bitter sweet, smoked grain, grilled meat and sweet smoke at the back

A truly excellent vatted (blended) malt.  I can’t imagine a better one, though there must be some out there.  I don't believe it is worth the price I paid ($70), though.  I can definitely taste the Talisker and what I believe to be Caol Ila.  The cereal quality must come from the Cragganmore and Linkwood.  It’s a shame Diageo cut this from Johnnie Walker’s lineup, because it is the best Johnnie Walker variation I've ever tried.  It definitely beats Red Label, Black Label, and Gold Label.  I've never tried Blue Label, so I can't comment on how it compares with it.
    • Nose
Sweet honey, buttered biscuits, oatmeal with brown sugar, marzipan, wisps of pipe tobacco.
    • Taste
Rich toffee, peanut brittle, buttered toast, slight smoky peat.
    • Finish
Short, with a cereal grain quality, the pipe tobacco returns.

When this came out, I purchased it in New York many years ago and

enjoyed it. This was JW version of a single malt or as they put it a

pure malt. For the price and quality it is a good buy.
