    Color: full gold
Nose: Red fruit (blackberry, raspberry, strawberry) and sherry, slightly gummy, perfectly integrated, spicy with delicate vanilla and caramel flavors.
Taste: Creamy, slightly tart, powerful and fiery, very fruity with underlying tobacco notes. Even salty, with aromas of grapefruit and the finest honey in combination with tropical wood.
Finish: Long and balanced, fruity and slightly spicy, orange marmalade, tobacco leaf and olive oil. Getting drier and pleasantly harsh.
Remark: Completely different than the SSMC, but with the same score!
    92 points (nose: 92 / taste: 92 / finish: 92)

  3. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 93 points Connoisseur

N: very very fruity, it starts with brambles, red fruits all sorts and cassis, honey and straw
T: oily, sherry influence and extremely fruity - grapefruit and exotic fruits
F: straw, floral and the frutis again - raspberry, cherry, orange and peach
    Marvellous dram! Tasted with Aby

Tasted 2cl at The Whisky Fair 21/04/18

Does remind me of Lochside 81. Very fruity and sweet, lovely!

  5. Dram Dracula scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

This is from a purchased sample. I also have an unopened bottle that I was thinking of selling, but after drinking the sample, hell no. I will keep it for future enjoyment. 92, maybe 92.5 points.

Immediately fruity -- the good kind of fruits (ie not the green grassy unripened ones). We have here peaches, mandarins, pineapples, persimmon, lemons. Yup, we are at 1976 Tomatin territory.
    • Taste
      92 92
Very complex, layers and layers of fruits, ever evolving. I would like this to be just a tad more viscous, but the mouthfeel is pretty good. There is a bit of a sharpness and tanginess to this also. Even though this doesn't reach the depth and the decadent fruitiness of, let's say, the 1960's Bowmores, the fruitiness is very impressive and has a thickness and juiciness that is better than most, if not all, Irish single casks. Also some herbs and honey. No need to add water.
    • Finish
      90 90
There is a bit of oaky flatness at the end. Minus one point.

[December, 2011]  I found this dram in an advents calendar sampled by MaRa.

    In
my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 92,5.  Unfortunately I took no detailed notes.

  7. Jean-Brice scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

very good but more spicy of other tomatoes of this vintage
    • Nose
      Extremely fruity, spices, herbs
    • Taste
      ditto but with bitterness
    • Finish
      rather long

Tasted face to face with the 1976 Wilson & Morgan: http://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/30846/tomatin-1976-wm

Nose: Less powerful and exuberant than the W & M. Fruity but less exotic. Yellow fruits, citrus fruits (pink grapefruit). Well, there are still some exotic fruits, huh ... Chartreuse type herbal liquor too.

Palate: Beautiful power in the mouth. Here again, the exotic is less marked than in the W & M. The attack is surprising, thoroughly on the herb liquor mentioned above, then we find the fruits, pink grapefruit in mind, but also the exotic fruits.

Final: Long, the tannins are there but nothing troublesome. Nice return of the herb liqueur mixed with grapefruit.

Conclusion: a high malt, but a notch below the previous one.

    90 or 91/100 ... Go, say 91 because it's still a good deal!

It's lovely, but not quite as fruity as I was expecting as the oak is apparent - though the fruits are there, especially on the nose.
    • Nose
Fruit basket. Some honey. Refill sherry.
    • Taste
More fruits - apple, cherry, raspberry.  But there's plenty of bitterness from the oak. Water releases more fruits and the oak dissipates somewhat.
    • Finish
oak returns with spices - some pepper, herbal liqueur, bitterness. Mint at the end.
