Whisky Reviews for Inchgower 1982 WhB

  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

For me an a-typical Inchgower. I alway associate Inchgower with industrial (gaz oil) notes, not with sweet fruit. A pleasant surpise.
    • Nose
Tropical fruit, melon and pear. Very sweet. Later some oakiness as well.
    • Taste
Fruit bomb. Juicy passion fruits, apricots, peach and melon with some vanilla. Oily as well. Very light mouthfeel though. Doesn't taste as 53,9% ABV. So dangerous whisky!
    • Finish
Medium long. Some pepper at the end.

Much better then the Bladnoch Forum 1982, very very nice
    • Nose
      Sherry and chocolade, very refined
    • Taste
      Dry, woody, bitterness
    • Finish
      medium and creamy

  6. Falnor scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Starts pretty fruity with pear and white chocolate.

The whisky also tastes quite fruity. Apricot and lychee.

Lots of oak in a good way

  7. Sonett scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Nose was elegant and light not really in balance with the taste but still a very nice dram
    • Nose
A light and fresh nose of fruits. Pears, green apples, melons and a tiny swift of wood.
    • Taste
Enters with a light sweet and fruity taste, then turning over to growing peppery spices.
    • Finish
Long dominated by pepper and chili finally fading out in a bitter sweet taste of almonds and oak

you might have guessed I don't like english turkish delights/rosewater & parma mints much, if you do, this might be something interesting for you.
    • Nose
First of: dusty malting floors, earth, cereals/grainy, dusty chocolate, some lemon, slight fresh peach, (86)
A bit later: musty (malting floor) now, fruitier/sweeter, peach turns quite estery/artificial now, honey, quite buttery & waxy (perfumed paraffin) now, also a few dried berries &  some mineral notes (sand & wet pebbles), (84)
    • Taste
very sweet upfront, quite artificial, parma mints/rosewater/turkish delights mix, malt, artificial peach,  liquor/syrupy,  and a slight bitter note in the back (73)
Later:  turkish delights/parma mints turn broader & overshadow most else (68)
    • Finish
nice oilyness, and once the previous notes dissapear (75), honey comes thorugh with a more malt notes, a touch of oak, maybe even some smoke at the very end ?   (83)
Later: turkish delights/parma mints creep more and more into the finish as well, also some white chocolate. (77)
Even later: mostly turkish delights & some parma mints now (70)
