  1. ASWhisky scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

I wonder what that whisky would be without the sherries
    • Nose
Very sweet at first, leather, raisins - sherry notes, very nice tangy spicy notes in the background, Erika, rosemary
    • Taste
Cool onset, sherry notes, nutty, sour notes, slightly bitter, oak, slightly alcoholic
    • Finish
medium long, slightly bitter, sherry, oak,

    It is a diesel. It
takes time to warm up, but once it is at cruising speed, it is very good
indeed. But it is not the best whisky I ever tasted, which makes it the victim
of its own success, I suppose, as it will never be able to fulfil the sky high
expectations bestowed upon it by some liquid prophet.
    • Nose
      The first whiff is
good, but not impressive. White fruit, grains, marzipan, light hint of seaweeds
and some oak. A trace of smoke, all the way in the back. Vanilla, ginger, aniseed. Develops nicely, though. Roasted nuts, leather and even a hint of peat if you
ask me. Banana peel. Needs a
      lot of time, though.
    • Taste
      The attack is sweet
and peppery. Loads of citrus, now. And very briney. Despite the modest ABV, it
packs some punch. Raisins, orange peel, mint. Caramel and vanilla. This is actually quite complex
      and very good!
    • Finish
      The finish is mildly
      drying with quite some woodspice.

  3. hs305 scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

[March, 2013]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 90 Euro in April, 2012.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored this 90.  My notes state a truly complex maritime profil that is dangerously quaffable...

  5. Igor scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Good density and depth reveals from the start. Really dense maltiness there, brown butter toffee, cocoa cake. It is quite mellow, notes of milk chocolate, (smooth) oak, candied pineapple, barn-like/thatch-y smell, dry and light, straw-like.
    • Taste
Soft, nicely paced, continuous progression. Dry at first, then it's getting saltier, salty nuts (pistachio), milky creaminess and just a slight herbaceous acridity. Fern?, medicinal plants coming through.
    • Finish
Long finish. Creamy, sweet and sour, even salty, but with a little sweetness to it. Nutty.

  6. Alex scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

Fruits, honey, a bit of coffee and lovely oak spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, anise) all play together in perfect harmony. I like it a lot!

It's a very pleasant whisky, needs a long dram to enjoy It as It deserves.
This was Mr Murray's choice as the best whisky in the world (I don't agree)

  9. Snerik scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

It's very fascinating that the 21-year old has so much more to offer than the 17-year old, according to my opinion. Somewhat unique, and lovely indeed!
    • Nose
Some oak and asparagus at first. Royal Gala apples? Then after a while (and the smallest drop of water ever) comes lovely vanilla, baked with lemon(zest) and marzipan.
    • Taste
Salt, seaweed, citrus (lemon zest for the most part), seashells and some liquorice.
    • Finish
Salt, chili, white peppar with lemon zest and seashells. Lovely!

  10. Malt Hans scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Spicy and fruity aroma, anise, cardamom, cinnamon, floral honey, mango, red apples, banana, vanilla and malt. Vanilla sweet taste, ginger, cardamom, mint, grapefruit marmalade, burnt almonds and malt. Medium long, spicy, fruity and malty end.
