Nice whisky, clearly develops in time, so take your time with it. A lot of fruit and sweetness, with some clear floral notes.
    • Nose
      88 88
Fruity, full nose, pretty some alcohol. Citrus, peach, some raisins. Sweet as well, and floral. Later on some powder sugar and waffles.
    • Taste
      88 88
Strong, pickering. Sweet and fruity, orange, peach, citrus, some caramel. A bit floral as well.
    • Finish
      87 87
Still strong and powerful, pretty floral, lavender, peach, sweet. Middle long finish, some honey. Later on some wood, like chewing on popsickle sticks.

Patience and a drop of water make this quite a stunning Blair Athol!
    • Nose
Initially the alcohol is quite strong but there is a beautiful nose behind it. Needs a drop of water to ease down a bit. Also it needs 20 minutes or so in the glass. Herbal, spices and floral after that. Gingerbread spices, dairy butter, antique polished oak, fresh floral bouquet, grapes. Impressive!!
    • Taste
A little dry/tannic at first but creamy full and rounded right after. Thick body. It really gives you something to chew on for a while. I like it! Herbal and floral flavors dominate the palate. It goes on and on in the mouth. There’s a very delicate woodpolish note in the taste.
    • Finish
This is an impressive finish. Warm fruits together with mild herbal notes and mature wood cover the complete mouth. It keeps delivering.

a whiff of perfume in the taste and finish does slow the scoring for me but its still a good dram! Thanks Daan Tje for sharing

I confess to not having a lot of experience with Blair
Athol. In fact, this is only the second one I tried after the semi-official 12
Year Old I tasted in Scotland. But this is truly good, especially on the nose.
Only available in Belgium for approximately 80 EUR, which is a good price for a
malt this is a quarter of a century old.
    • Nose
The nose is very fruity with sultanas, raisins and
quite a bit of apricots. Some toffee, red berries and a wonderfully sweet twist
from the rum. Nougat, too. This is a very nice nose.
    • Taste
It is very oily and mouthcoating. Feisty, thanks to
the high ABV, but perfectly palatable sans aqua. The sweetness of the apricots
returns, as do the red berries, but I also get fragrant notes of oranges now.
Very softly spiced (white pepper) and quite a bit of liquorice. Towards the end
I detect a bitter touch, most likely from the oak.
    • Finish
The finish is longer than anticipated and remains
