    It smells almost creamy.
    Soft, aromatic wood notes.
    Slightly spicy, pure wood.

Very strong in the mouth, but still drinkable.
Somewhat spicier, more bitter, although the barrel dominates.
Slightly sweet, but all made from wood.

You can tell what a nice barrel aroma means.

Not too good Macduff, dirty nose, grainy, dry and too spicy flavors. But the finish is ok.
    • Nose
      82 82
Dirty and powerful. Honey, vanilla, orange peel, forest fruits and a ton of spices.
    • Taste
      83 83
Powerful and dry. Pepper and grain. Sawdust and bitter oak. Nougat cream and palinka.
    • Finish
      83 83
      Long, sweet, fruity, creamy.

  5. SilentStill scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Rather difficult to estimate. Quite closed on the palate, but with water then quite pleasant. Not a daily dram, but one that you can deal with well
    • Nose
In the year of distillation, the third Spirit Still was put into operation. A sweet representative from the Aberdeenshire. Medium heavier, rather dark fruits, here and there a bit of sulfur or egg, but by no means intrusive. Then rather the pictures of fresh hayloft and the thought of a not too sweet piece of nut cake.
    • Taste
A very dry representative of his guild and also extremely grainy. In addition, does not leave much behind in impressions. A few drops of water give the Macduff a little more life. The fruitiness of the nose (plum) goes well with the still rather malty maltiness.
    • Finish
Remarkably long and also enormously powerful with water.

  6. markjedi1 scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

For truly good Macduff, like this one, you really need to look at the
independent bottlers. This is a completely different whisky than the standard
Glen Deveron. That one does not even come close.
    • Nose
The nose is sweet and nutty. Make that roasted nuts. And milk chocolate.
Vanilla, honey and some ginger too. Cake! Mild on the spice front. A touch of
citrus, primarily oranges, makes this an enticing nose. Slightly dusty, too.
Give it a few minutes to open up.
    • Taste
With such a high ABV, it comes as no surprise that the attack is
peppery. Wonderfully mouth coating and creamy, slightly bitter from the wood,
with again a sweet nuttiness. Some silt towards the end.
    • Finish
The finish is a life or death battle between sweet and salt and last
      quite long.
