Excellent Glen Grant, everything you expect from a fine sherry, even if the wood could discourage the most sensitive
    • Nose
      92 92
A tropical nose, with barely ripe fruit.
      Papaya, mango, passion fruit.
Slightly camphoric, shiny, with a little fudge.
    • Taste
      91 91
In the mouth it is brilliant again, with a lot more wood.
      Rancio, slight varnish, slight dust.
The tropical is set back but when it arrives it is very attractive.
    • Finish
      92 92
Long finish on rancio, liquorice, camphor, heavy wood and a little wax.

sweet, tasty tasty, great malt. Honey, caramel, nothing burns, around little wood to taste. The nice thing about whisky that has been stored for so long is that all lint has been eliminated from the wood, also here.

Another great old Grant. What a grandiose, extremely compact, expressive and complex nose!
In the mouth he can not quite keep the level, unfortunately. It definitely needs some time to open up. A few (few!) Drops of water make it a little rounder and less dry / bitter in the finish.
    • Nose
Enormously dense, compact and very deep. Sweet, heavy and fruity, heavy flower aromas, cherries, blueberries, papaya - mixed partly tropical, partly dark fruits. British fruit cake, leather. Tobacco. Polished oak and a small touch of dusty books. Then something fresh again - lemon balm and mint. Kumquats, cooked apples. Complex.
    • Taste
Fine sweetness, velvety and full in the beginning, clearly white pepper. Will be firmer. Rich dark fruit, cherries, apricots, mango, many spices, very ripe blackberries, slightly nutty and malty undertones and polished oak. Concentrated and dense.
    • Finish
Dark fruit, slightly peppery, spices, tocken with clearly oak with also slightly bitter tannins. A little coffee and a lot of bitter cocoa behind. Medium.

    • Nose
It is Christmas, chocolate, dark fruits (blackberry etc.), rum grape, fruit cake
    • Taste
as in the nose, there are also the beautiful dark fruit notes, chocolate, grape, sweet and elegant, nicely round, then slightly grape seeds and a little eucalyptus / mint

    Try this one!
    I surely miss it now.
Considering the price it was released at...i would still get it no matter if the price is tripled.

A very nice whisky. It lacks a bit of intensity to reach the peaks but I'm fussy ...
    • Nose
      Fade and complex.
      A beautiful, ripe sherry.
Many berries (strawberries and gooseberries) and cocoa
    • Taste
      Concentrated, powerful, woody (controlled).
      A lot of bitter cocoa.
    • Finish
      Long

Nose: Now we`re talking! Warm and delicious with plenty of tobacco and strong coffee. Sweet with strawberry and plums. Lots of sweet sherry. A little leather and coconut as well. Magnificent nose, probably one of the best in years.
Mouth: Smooth and wonderfully intense. More red fruits and berries. Raspberries and strawberries and cherries. Slowly turns more spicy, thinking mainly of cardamom and cinnamon. Really complex and wonderfully cocky.
Finish: Crazy long with hints of amarulla liqueur and licorice. Chocolate and delicious spices.
Rating: A magnificent Glen Grant i think. The nose is legendary and the mouth is not far behind. Is hard to come by but please do not hesitate if you get the chance!

    nothing than good things !
    • Nose
lots of fruits : a real "tarte aux confiture" ... also some cigare tobacco, coffee; this is good !
    • Taste
lots of oak, some spices but the same flavours as the nose brings
    • Finish
long and warm : what an expression

This one really proves how good the old Glen Grants can be. Highly recommended.
    • Nose
Warming and very elegant with a delicious fruityness at first nosing. Red fruit jelly, toffee and leather with the sherry very well incorporated. Simply superb.
    • Taste
Smooth, elegant, complex and fruity with additional notes of toffee, tea and high quality sherry. Reminds very much of a gateau. Plums and almond biscuits, tangerine cream cake, mangos, then more and more cacoa is coming up. Fantastic.
    • Finish
Long, sweet on dark chocolate aroma and black forrest gateau.

I don't have a favourite, both are equally great in my opinion. The lower strength certainly isn't a downside and it's 10% cheaper as well.
    • Nose
This one has less alcohol and indeed it starts more like the Spirits in the Sky version with water. It seems more open - it doesn't have as much cherry notes but its fruitiness is wider, like a red fruit compote with tropical touches in the background. Leather again. Maybe a little more spices and cocoa.
    • Taste
Smoother but just as fruity and intense. Plums, blackberries, figs, all present. Extra raspberry (nice). Develops on cocoa, almost completely on chocolate in the end. Pretty much perfect strength and nicely supported by the spices without being oaky.
    • Finish
      Long, sweet. Spices and chocolate.
