Whisky Reviews for Lagavulin 1992 Vanilla Sky WF

4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.33 points

  1. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

A very delicious and in fact vanniliger, but not particularly ingenious Lagavulin halt.
    • Nose
Dry moss, toast fresh from the toaster, dry seaweed on the beach, heather, peppermint, some forest honey and raw, fresh leather, subtle black pepper
    • Taste
Vanilla, in fact, very clearly in the center, marshmallows slightly burned only, campfire, light toffee, light honey, some mint and sweet lemon drops, some iodine and smoke blown far behind
    • Finish
Light malt, herbal honey, vanilla pods, leather, medium-long

http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=269 Color: straw yellow Nose: Quite discreet! Delicate maritime spiciness with peppery appeal. There are smoke, cold ashes, cardboard, sweet malt and some honey. Vanilla, dull leather and grass are gradually evolving. Apart from the citric acid rather fruitless. Taste: Round, creamy and immediately fresh-bitter. Peppermint, nettle, bitter-sweet herbs and a lot of peat-containing vanilla notes. Always fresher on menthol base and lemon extract. Finish: Medium long - dry, slightly spicy and sweet! Honey, sugar liqueur, toffee, caramel and vanilla. Notes of iodine, coal, peat, smoke and resin stick to the tongue. Note: Partially dry and partly with added sweetness! 86 points (nose: 88 / taste: 85 / finish: 84)

We've bought two bottles, one to enjoy and one to cherish...
    • Nose
again a real lagavulin, doubtless, but here more vanilla (as the name reveals) and also a bit spicy, punchy on peat of course but gentle, even ripe fruit, apple maybe
    • Taste
a rounder taste and oiler mouthfeeling than the classic 16yo, a little woody also, rich on fruit as well
    • Finish
long, very long... nice peaty, smoky finish

Well, I belief this is a "dyke" of a whisky(as we say in Holland) so, a real stunner! But with three drops of water he becomes even better!

Thanks for this "great Monster", JvH!
    • Nose
neat: tar, (lapsang?) tea, smoke, vanilla and ... apple?ww: vanilla, smokeish, softer.
    • Taste
neat:peat, pepper, wood, little greasy (almost to chew!), lemon and clove, with three drops of water he becomes much softer, a more refined taste, not too sweet, peppery but less severe, although still
       smoky and peatyish!
    • Finish
quite long, but for me unfortunately too short!
