As one of Scotland's invisible distilleries without a big reputation, Speyburn offers this 10-year-old Single Malt at a very affordable price. Obviously young, light and typical Speyside, the nose features honey, tinned fruits and mild spices with discreet floral notes in the background. Green apples, malty sweetness and hints of ginger please the palate, interrupted by refill cask bitterness and a little bit of heat in the development. The aromatic and rather short finish is easy and forgettable. Although not overly complex or inspiring, this malt still beats most blends.

Light, gentle, simple. The aftertaste of berries and nuts is felt.

Fresh, fruity, floral and malty. Some citrus. Very tasty.

Well, well, well.... good things first: you realize immediately that it's a single malt scotch.
Speaking frankly I have to say that it's not really a big pleasure, rather dull and boring.
    • Nose
      76 76
First impression: yeasty. Then quite sweet with cheap perfumed hand cream, after a while apple cider and caramel, malty.
    • Taste
      68 68
Sweet apple juice, some rather unpleasant waxiness - all in all very soft, but also thin with alcoholic heat.
    • Finish
      64 64
Slightly bitter with a medium length. Vanilla and somewhere from the off a distant earthiness, like wet potting soil.

Good as a daily drink. But not sure if I can get something better at this price.
    • Nose
Vanilla, apple and other fresh fruits. Hint of dried fruit. Hint of honey appears with a drop of water
    • Taste
Dry, thin, and smooth body. A bit oily. Vanilla with some pepper spice.
    • Finish
With a hint of sweet fruit, reminds me of apple juice and fruit candies. Rather short finishing at mouth and throat but smell lasts.

This Highland Single Malt whisky has water from the Speyside and therefore the taste of this whisky is a classic Speyside single malt whisky, with a fruity taste and a dry aftertaste.
