Whisky Reviews for Clynelish 1995 DR

4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.11 points

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Excellent mole with all the inherent generic features of Clynelish; the taste is slightly behind the flavor and aftertaste, but it rather plays the role of a powerful accelerator and does not require a wide variety of shades and halftones, but after such a powerful push you can safely enjoy the long and smooth extinction in the aftertaste and be inspired by the magnificent kaleidoscope of aromas for a new jerk. This distillery, in my opinion, has a high average level of quality and, if I may say so, "high accuracy" - of more than a dozen samples I tried, mostly young, there was not one weak or uninteresting.
    • Nose
Mineral - wet warm boulders after the summer rain, floral notes, wax, carpentry in the background - varnish, noble varieties of wood, wood heated after processing on a machine with a mixture of wood dust, lemonade tones, citrus - lemon, lime; a little dried fruits and creamy hues - dried apricots, toffee, fudge. The aroma is complex, multilayered, dynamic in development.
    • Taste
Oak syrup against the background of fire pepper, cream, boiled condensed milk, nuts, lemon acid, everything is powerful and rich.
    • Finish
Pepper-ginger in a citrus-lemonade frame, then creamy notes on a tender bitter-sweet substrate, dried apples, dried apricots, burnt sugar, pleasant, long-lasting, gradually fading.

  2. Ivynor scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

It's between Glendronach CS Batch 1 and Amrut Intermediate. Fans of this type of sherry will appreciate. Not too my style (too dry).
    • Nose
A little seared, and a lot of dry sherry: exotic woods, spices, and a very slight sweetness of caramel cream.
    • Taste
Slightly sweet, on spices and wood. Pretty austere, it's very dry.
    • Finish
Long, powerful, on wood, spices, sugar. Creamy tip at the end that reduces drought.

its a very typical Clynelish for me and is well balanced when you add some drops of water and it`s also very similar to the 2011er Alba Import bottling
    • Nose
little alcohol, Creme Brulee \w some hints of fruits, above all is some restrained smoke
    • Taste
strong in the beginning with a little sharpness through the alcohol; ginger, after a while its getting sweeter, honey, herbage, salt, maritime; with some water the sharpness back offs a little
    • Finish
      long, sweet and maritime, nice
